General Fighting Disappointment: Lets fix some cards that were almost sweet

In terms of cube, I would not change a thing about JTMS. Love his design, and he doesn't even feel miserable to play against or anything. Somehow it's a card that generates positive emotions almost exclusively. Maybe it's because when you kill him a second doesn't hit the table the next turn...

    General CBS

I sometimes wonder if this philosophy is bad. Don't people figure out Wizards draft sets without needing to be told all the details? Or am I being naive?

Anybody care to summarize the cards from this set they plan to include so far?

General Life Gain as a Thing

I think the incidence of lifegain needs to increase beyond the normal rate to pull it off. Luckily there are lots of good cards that gain life, so the design can be pretty elegant.

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

Redmand seems super powerful. I like trying to move some counterspells into other colors, but I'm not sure how I feel about Memory Lapse in Selesnya colors. There's also the inherent aspect of... if Wizards printed any of these we would accept them as changes / modifications to the color pie...

General Jitte and assorted GRBS, P1P1, etc.

Well, on that note, Jitte gets way more broken if you take Eric's approach and make more of your removal sorcery speed. The ability to kill the holder after attackers have been declared (thus preventing a re-equip) is key. As is a generally high removal density.

General Life Gain as a Thing

This could work, I had been trying Searing Meditation but I don't think it's actually a playable card. Good suggestion.

[Design/Construction] Lets build the Scuttlemutt Cube!

I think your manabase can cover most of this, no? You probably don't need to waste too much spell space on getting it to happen.

[Design/Construction] Lets build the Scuttlemutt Cube!

Yeah, I don't know what fixing you are running here, but in my Eldrazi Domain cube the Domain archetype is actually base-Blue, not green.

[Design/Construction] Lets build the Scuttlemutt Cube!

Map is cool, especially with utility lands. I run it in my main cube.

Typical post-draft chat between Eric and myself. me: tonight was cray cray Gb Cloudpost 5-color Zombies Lifepod Fabled Hero swinging for 20 Sent at 12:05 AM on Wednesday Eric: whoa cloudpost is a deck! five colour zombies...?! whyyyyy me: cloudpost is so a deck Eric: fabled hero can do...

General Non Blue Control in Cube

    We play all Oracle text.

General Jitte and assorted GRBS, P1P1, etc.

More anecdotals: Jitte got manhandled again tonight. At one point opponent was at 15 life and played Oblivion Ring... targetting Wild Nacatl and ignoring the Jitte. Card gets beat a lot in my cube.

General Print this Wizards! (So I can put it in my cube)

I don't know how you guys feel about this subforum, but I'd just like to note that, statistically speaking, discussion of custom cards has gone way up in volume since we implemented the new subforum. I know it's not perfect, but I think if gives you guys more room to grow.

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

Maybe somebody else take up this torch? It's an interesting concept though, my writing was most well-received when I was inflammatory and railing against traditional cube design. I don't really feel like beating that same drum week after week, but I know that I'm dealing with a more niche...

General Life Gain as a Thing

Uh, well, aside from it being a pissing match: I don't think they're bad cards, they just aren't the strictly power-maximized cards for that slot. I really don't think you could make the same case. All I can say is that, when testing, it's been really fun to play with Pridemate, and his...

General Life Gain as a Thing

I don't think it's unfun, so much as there's potential to Level 2 play (and beyond) if people are aware of the possibility, and if the possibility is actually worth considering. If the combat tricks are so rare that your best line is to pretend they don't exist, then you might not be presenting...
