This sounds like a good topic for a blog post. I will admit that I have not experimented with lower-power removal as a means of introducing balance to an environment. There are many levers to be adjusted, and this sounds like an original solution.

That sounds pretty great Tom. I love introducing new people to my cube, especially when they bring such a fresh perspective. New players always see cards and strategies in such a different light, which is very refreshing.

Adventuring Gear is baller. Especially with Double Strikers and 20 fetchlands. But really, getting +2/+2 off of a single landfall trigger is often significantly better than Bonesplitter's +2/+0. The extra toughness enables creatures to win battles instead of trading.
