I mean, what absolute insane density of +1/+1 cards would you have to run for it to be remotely possible to get the alt. win con on that card come together in an actual draft game? And if that isn't possible in the environment, is it worth running a gold card where half of it's flavor text?

I've been a bit bummed out about here in MTG Arena because she blanks the two copies of Sleep I run in my bad merfolk deck, but I'm still considering here for my cube. In a way, the effect works a bit like standard bearer, which isn't the worst thing to play against.

I'd just imagine that 3 is probably the likely amount you'd get in a retail draft? That and I like 3 as the "draft playset".

Why 4-of? A 3-of would give the equivalence of a 60 deck playset.

I do think the ill-gotten gains does have an advantage in just more clearly communicating to a player that they can build a pillowforty deck, Palace Siege requires the player to be just slightly more clever.

As long as the board is locked down some how, either due to a board stall or you having blown upp all credible threats; Ill-gotten gains will keep ticking away while villain looks for answers. It'll also undo the race so far! After a little while you might be back at 20 and villain and like 9...

The card is nuts!! It seems so incredibly unassuming, but that's a guaranteed 2 point life swing that can suddenly turn into a 10 point life swing when it's the most opportune.

The few times I've played against this card it's been absolutely miserable, I'll warn! It can in a lot of cases you outright end the game when it lands, and not every deck can interact with it. I'm not a fan!

My vote is for trollbred because it's the only card of the three that really fits well in a deck that doesn't care about +1/+1 counters, by virtue of just being a big body that can turn even bigger (at instant speed!). Tuskguard is a bit slow and Crowned Ceratok doesn't enable itself.

You know what? I don't even think this would be that bad as a 1-2 of in the mono black pauper list? 2 life swing per turn is actually quite a lot, and black already has some ways of draining life in this way to try and close out the game while stabilizing.

Wilderness Reclamation seems kind of fun in conjunction with flash / instans in an UG list with some bounce lands or enchantments like utopia sprawl

+1 to the suggestions of making deck lists and practice drafting against bots. I would also suggest maybe taking some deck lists you're particularly keen on for a spin against a friend in an actual game! I think people would be more down to play with proxied cards if it's for testing design...
