Yes. Both are triggered abilities that go on the stack as soon as the creature hits the graveyard. Since it's in the graveyard at that time, you can exile it before the trigger resolves.

I like Ajani's Pridemate, it gets pretty big off of incidental life gain. Archangel of Thune is also a good card. Searing Meditation is fun, but in the wrong colors. There aren't currently any other life gain matters cards I would consider putting in my cube

Goat Simulator is bonkers.

I own a regular DS. Can heartily recommend any of the Professor Layton game if you're into puzzels, and I can heartily recommend Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure if you're into platformers. Edit: Oh, and Yoshi's Island DS was fun as well, and Kirby is awesome of course!

Thrill is best used for saving creatures from (combat or spell-based) damage, Preparations plays nice with +1/+1 counter theme and allows a GW player to apply more pressure. They each have their uses, but I think I like Travel Preparations best because it allows you to be more proactive.

I just realized Podmother goes infinite with Soul Warden. That's probably a bad thing. Possible solutions: "Whenever you gain life for the first time each turn, choose one -" "Put a 1/1 green Saproling creature token onto the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step." Don't cube it...

+1 for Endless Legend. I love the custom races you can design as well, which uses a point buy system to acquire traits. Nice thing is there are traits that aren't used by the core races.

I already had the Podmother above (and below, so you don't have to scroll), which spawned these designs. Couldn't think of anything snazzy for black, but I think this is at least playable, if not very exciting (also, Skullbrother is a silly name for an insect).

OMFGWTFBBQ! I just watched some gameplay footage and saw a guy latch onto a hangglider with his tongue. This is not the game I thought it would be.
