I think my favorite ways are with Lich cards but that seems a bit easy. I think the issue with Demonic Pact and friends is that it's not an ordered list (although it feels that way in regular magic). Final Fortune is also sweet but again too easy. Here are some effects that I would find fun in this format.
I also considered Leveler but it seems a bit too easy. Stuffy Doll also works but I figured it would be too slow. I also wonder how strong Vendetta, Devour in Shadow, and Feed the Swarm effects would be. I like Reckless Spite/Wicked Pact the most of these effects.

Maybe I misunderstood the idea, but there is the Riptide classic

If you can grow the backside with an Arcane Teaching or whatever, then you can ping yourself for 10 damage and lose.

Mentioning these because we had a green player back in the day that would just end the game in a tie with a big Hurricane if things weren't looking good on his end. It was kinda funny.
We also had a guy in our playgroup who had a copy of this, which I think is a pretty funny card here:
Can you imagine something like that getting spoiled today? What would you even try to say about that card if you had it as a spoiler for your blog article and you were trying to hype up the set? Makes me chuckle.
