Sets [EOE] Edge of Eternities

Man, I just need the entire Battlelands enemy cycle and I'll have the perfect mana-base for my cube (swap out my 2nd set of shocklands). I've been waiting a decade now. Please just finish these up already.

Surely adding only three lands to a ten-card cycle has to be some sort of crime.

True.

It's funny, though, I've been waiting for the other five bicycle lands for a long, long time and now I am not even sure that I want them anymore. I'm now on a split of ally bicycle/enemy bridges for artifact/indestructible synergy and that plays really well.

This guy is rock solid. Good stat and type line. Artifact AND creature plus fills the GY. Going to have to find room in my cubes (yes plural).

Yoooooo…I’ve been wishing for a Viscera Seer with surveil for years!

This card does exactly what it was intended to do.
As in, I laughed really hard at "deals 100 damage".

Now, that said, while I thiiiink we're not there yet...

...there sure are a lot of Stuffy Dolls relative to how many good enablers there are, and this gets us one closer to parity. (no, Boros Charm does not count, that's still a three card combo with giving the Boros Reckoner lifelink)

It's interesting to me that - while clearly still an EDH-centric design - it does something different in a 40 card format (you likely get fewer lands, but now you draw all spells) than a 100 card one. I wonder how much design space there is if they specifically aim for that?

So the if a card was warped is just to avoid stacking triggers to punish an opponent from warping or would it not be put on the stack if no card left and no warpers?

I'm sure Warp will play well in Limited, but it's a mechanic that I'm not very interested in including in my cube. Having to track additional cards in an exile zone as a one or two-off occurrence isn't something I want to subject players to.

I think it's great that they're finishing land cycles in Commander decks. This means they will likely do more in future releases and before long we will have some completed cycles.
Edit: I guess that precedent was already set when they made the Odyssey enemy colored filter lands. But any time something good comes out of Commander decks, I'll take it. Decent cheap duals are always nice.

I honestly have no idea how to judge the power level of Hemosymbic Mite.
My closest guess is Yotian Frontliner, which is definitely about Standard-playable power level (I have played it, but obviously only in bad decks.) Rather than type synergies and unearth, Mite has "becomes tapped" and pump synergies. No clue where that puts it in the grand scheme of things.

The ceiling on it is deleting your opponent on turn three via Memnite + Mite -> Scythecat Cub, etc... actually, no, wait, it's turn two, I forgot about Scale Up + Groundswell. Okay, it's Glistener Elf. If you're doing Tifa Lockheart things it's almost another copy of that, except it requires a friend rather than doubling itself.

I definitely got more hyperbolic by the time I got to the end there. Anyway, I think it's one of the better aggressive green one-drops we've gotten lately, but that space also includes Pawpatch Recruit which I would often rather have, so I'm not sure.

this card sure does have a lot of words on it. sheesh.

It does the Ygra, Eater of All thing, but only for artifacts, so you can do some kind of Warren Soultrader + Cauldron Familiar thing still but you have to work harder for it. It's WR so that's not as likely to happen - though that vaguely fits with the slower Lorehold-style stuff from Strixhaven onwards, idk, maybe you go off with Samwise Gamgee and untap this a bunch to do... something, whatever.

It's interesting. But it feels wordy and my best guess is that part of that is just how much space on its name and type line are taken up by a totally-normal-style name and type combo, if that makes sense?
I am way late here but YOU MEAN TO TELL ME A SHRIMP FRIED THIS RICE?!?

So the if a card was warped is just to avoid stacking triggers to punish an opponent from warping or would it not be put on the stack if no card left and no warpers?
It's an intervening if, so it would not be put on the stack. But it's also because several of the effects work at sorcery speed.

First one's super cool, second one's just an above-rate piece of cardboard.

Can't say I expected this theme, but also, it makes sense with Lander tokens and so on. Interesting with nonbasics. For those of you who are high enough on the power curve to have Field of the Dead, rejoice.

I suspect almost nobody cares about this for cube specifically - green aggro 4s are so replaceable, though this one at least has a theme going - but it fits with my earlier Tifa Lockhart jokes about Hemosymbic Mite.
