Goblin Game

We've cloned your cube for an Extra Life event, and we played it with 7 drafters.

Here are a few lists! This first deck was strong and went 3-1 or so in single games. Clickslither is a bomb.

Clickslither and Black

This next deck had the signature moment of the night.

Myr Equip

Something stupid happened to his opponent all of a sudden: the combo below delivered a one shot, taking the opponent from 20 to zero.

This deck wins when Goblin King gets on the table:

Goblin King Goblins

I first picked a green creature and then the table gave me all the green and white big creatures plus Hurloon and Roc and all the fixing. Gilded Lotus is a bomb. This deck was a little too good. In the future the group will prevent something like this from happening again, I would expect. I did lose one game quite decidedly to Goblin King.

Green Ramp

Improvised Armor is a handful in this cube. Very strong card.

It just cracks me up to see some of these silly cards in a pack, like Goblins of the Flarg. I think the draft portion of this was really fun.

The missing four packs that were left out of our 7 player draft had some bangers, and my deck had a disproportionate amount of strong cards. Unfortunately this left 2-3 of the decks a little thin on power. I'm really hoping to get this back to the table again some day, and I think we could put on a more balanced and competitive draft. I'll have to think on how to explain and introduce this a bit better so everyone understands that a 3/3 creature is an overpowered bomb in this format.

I made a point to include 128 different mountains with different artwork, and as many old ones as possible. Very fun. It was also fun to include a mix of versions of the burn spells, so there's Portal stuff to go along with white borders and new frames. I like the janky misfit aesthetic, laden with nostalgia.

Playing an unsleeved, no deckbuilding desert bar cube was great! There's zero unnecessary fussing about.

For the cube packs, I used plain Shipping Shield cardboard packs with the top flaps cut off. My usual cube packs would have been too hoity toity. Ten cards can fit, but it's a little bit tight. If I was really concerned about the card corners I wouldn't do this, but I also wouldn't play them unsleeved in the first place.

Thanks for designing and publishing such a cool and quirky cube!

Wow this is incredible! I don't think I've ever had someone do this with one of my cubes before, I'm so honored that you loved the list enough to build it yourself and I'm so happy to hear that folks enjoyed it so much! It's making me giddy seeing all the cool decks and interactions you folks played here.

I'd love to hear it if you've got more thoughts on Gilded Lotus and Clickslither. Those are two cards that I've been considering putting on the chopping block after INW. Quite a few folks mentioned Lotus as a card they thought violated the conceit too much and made double pips too free. Clickslither is a card I've known is probably top 5 in the cube, and it's obviously extremely swingy when it comes down, but I'm not sure if it's cool factor and flavor make up for that. Would be curious how folks at your table were reacting to those cards.
