General Monthly Fun Q: What is your favorite hobby besides Magic?

Ecstatic Orb
Painting is my biggest passion, and exists in the space between hobby and career for me. My day job is the manager of a metalworking studio, but I've been painting for about 15 years now. I got my BFA in Memphis and my MFA in Philly. I haven't exhibited since before the pandemic, but I've been steadily developing a new body of work. I have enough new work and Rona has chilled out enough that I'm actively seeking opportunities now that we are back in Memphis. I've been enjoying reconnecting with some of my old artist friends here. My studio is in storage as we start the process of finding a house, and I'm relegated to drawing and working on postcard sized paintings in our apartment in the meantime. It's been a struggle feeling the inspiration that comes with a change of scenery without having access to all of my equipment and the space to make large paintings and large messes. I may have to find a temporary studio space, because it could be 6 months before we get into a new house.
Cool! What kind of paintings do you paint?

I write short stories (and occasionally attempt to write novels), and I paint wargaming minis (and occasionally even play wargames).

I used to play a lot of videogames, but I satisfied my dopamine receptors in the early 2010's with Monster Hunter 3U and Fire Emblem Awakening.
