Heh, this one went interestingly. I should not draft when someone is streaming; the additional time pressure has a way of making me lose cards right and left. The chess clock in-game is tough enough!

Historical tidbit: clocks were often my downfall as a chess club kid, too.

As far as I can tell from the .txt and .csv files generated, I started out by drafting 50 cards, then the magical decky tradey algorithms gave me 44 of them. Pretty good start! Especially because Safra was super awesome and tracked down a spare copy of Retreat to Coralhelm, bringing me up to 45 cards out of 50. The only super noticeable loss is Aetherling, at this point.

Now things take a dramatic turn for the worse: deckbuilding! I've got a strong habit of double-clicking to move cards to and from the sideboard, and that does not translate well into MTGO. At least, I think that's what happened. I lost 5 more cards this way, including BOTH brainstorms that I was so eager to draft, and the best part is this: I didn't even notice! If they'd only made it to my sideboard, at least I coulda swapped em in game 2. Come time to sideboard, I finally noticed something had gone horribly wrong, and my first hunch was to blame Cloudshift, but in actual actuality... I'd clumsily harmed myself just as badly as Cloudshift had! Or worse than that, if you consider how much bette Brainstorms are than most other cards in the game.

So yeah, I slapped a deck together out of whatever spare parts I hadn't double-clicked right out of existence, and into the games we went! The part of my draft plan that had involved 6 fetchlands and 2 brainstorms didn't work as well without the brainstorms, but the fetches were still nice and I was never flooded! Ultimately I just wish I could have drawn Titania, and seen her in action - cool cards are cool to resolve and activate. The games went okay, I just wish I'd noticed my folly during deckbuilding, and re-loaded the untouched decklist that contained all 45 cards.

(we did 4 abortive empty trades, and 3 actual trades, to get all the cards. I've checked the lists twice to see if I'm still holding anything that belongs to safra, but do let me know if anything is missing!)

As for the games, I recall game 1 being pretty exciting! Safra was quite close to being decked out, both our life totals were a little below 10 I think? Then I lost all my creatures to something. Possibly should have cast Staff of Nin 2 or so turns prior when I first had the chance, but I kept feeling the pressure to cast smaller items. (I avoided saying tempo there!) The sweeper was actually a green black permanent, I think, and that destructo blast would still have been a doozy even with Nin, but in theory I'd have had 3 more tricks and toys in hand and 1 less on the board. Possibly I could have survived a turn or two longer with those. Instead, I got righteously dunked!

Game 2, I couldn't play my wickerbough elder for fear of Ral Zarek's 2nd ability, and I was not able to find a second swamp in order to kill Ral Zarek with Hero's Downfall. So some combination of my deckbuilding (probably didn't need quite as much blue stuff) and Ral Zarek being answer-or-die got me.

Got to brush up on my drafting/deckbuilding, because as of yet I've only ever defeated safra with a safra-built deck! Thanks for the games!

So I didn't get to watch the games of this one. I did however get to see you do the grid draft on your stream, which was awesome.

Your commentary was awesome. It was relaxed, informative and funny, which is what you want out of a streamer. Are you sure you haven't done stuff like this before? You seem really good at it.

I hung out with Ravenbornmuse in the twitch chat while you were doing the draft and we were having a great time, hoping that we could get to see Kiora in action (It never happened :(). It was fun to be the pivot between the stream and yourself, making sure things were working alright. It was a bit strange when, in your words, 'The microwave turned on' and we lost you for ~5 minutes. At least you came back quickly!

With the grid draft, was there any cards that seemed out of place? I was going to ask if there was enough lands, but from this draft it certainly seems like there was a decent amount. Should Porcelain Legionnaire and Dismember be shifted to colourless so they appear in every draft?

Other than that I had a great time. 10/10 would help out again.

EDIT: So I took too long to write this, that Ferret ended up posting his deck and how the game went. Your deck looks a little dual land light, especially with those fetches.

Yeah, Mortars seems much better than dispersal shield in your deck. Deathrite Shaman should been pretty full with all those fetchlands though.

Wow! Lots of activity in this forum since I last checked it. A few thoughts: one, where are the links to stream highlights/exports?! Two, I'm curious what the cloudshift issues were. Aetherthings are a known issue IIRC. The others would be news to me unless they were collection issues.
