Just when you thought mono red couldn't get any better. Just splash every other colour and you get the most insane thing ever!

Deck played very much like a voltron deck. Play a one-drop. Suit it up with rancor or various equipment. Burn everything out of the way and ride it to victory.

Only ever had white problems with the mana base and the Vryn Wingmare wasn't that great anyway, but I didn't have much else (maybe Obstinate Baloth?)

Cards that impressed me were Looming Spires as the first strike made combat hell for safra and made lightning beserker even better. Very happy with this ULD pick. Flamewake Pheonix as all my equipment managed to get it back really easy. Did a better Sulfuric Vortex impression than the Jinxed Idol (in saying that, it did have its moments).

Best play of the night had to be the Skaab Ruinator coming out of the Collected Company in our very last game. I got to say, I was not expecting it. Completely wrecked me after that. I got to Painful Truths for 3 in our very first game, which I also thought was pretty sweet.

Thanks again Safra. You need to tighten up your magic skillz if you want to beat me next time :p

He's a cool dude, albeit not really alone. What I like is that he's a pivot point between going wide and going tall, a creature-based sac outlet for combo, and sometimes he's just really hard to kill. Unfortunately, he's a bit slow, and I couldn't do anything with him those games, holding onto creatures in my yard for the Ruinator instead. I think he's a bit weak for you but there's nothing like dropping him late-game, scavenging a bunch and swinging for lethal
