Mars was the only song I found all that interesting on that album, and it's still not that great. Just not to my taste. I like his first album, and a few songs from Swim.

I'm a newcomer to his stuff, so I should probably go back and check that out.

It's really quite different. It's sample-heavy, and has an old trip-hop/bonobo/dj shadow kind of feel. Almost all of these guys have really moved on from that sound.

Checking out Hopsin's cack catalog recently, and found this

Interesting Song. I think the second guy uses the straightforward simile a bit too much (uses the word "like" so much he sounds like a valley girl) and the 3rd guy has a bit of a content mismatch problem (The whole verse is about murder, but then he tells about this time he egged someone's house, which is a bit of a jarring change of pace) but overall I like it

Plus in looking up the lyrics I learned a new word: Oronym

Hey, funny, I listened to that album in a shop a while ago. If I remember correctly I found the songs a bit too "samey".

I was listening to Sufjan's new album, and stumbled upon a discussion on people's favorites of his older albums. This was high up, and I totally get why!

Yeah, new Sufjan album is awesome. Real folksy. Illinoise is probably the best one of his previous works, it also inspired an awesome remix album with various Sufjan instrumentals mashed with rap tracks:
