I’m a big fan of version b. I’ve almost run it many times in my cube. It’s just never felt right to have multiple cards with UUU in the casting cost, and Jace, Wielder of Mysteries is more important
F, but I wouldn't even touch it if I had a major Artifact theme. Having a 2/2 rogue with flash that more or lesses or scrys 3 is pretty decent. I think it would be a lot better if the was colorless and/or the VCC was 3 cost.
Although loss of synergy with Richard Garfield where you can play a copy of Cryptic Command and VCC and have access to all the other ones in your commander deck lol.
Every other Very Cryptic Command has at least one choice that completely breaks the card for me and makes me not want to run it.
A - Assemble a contraption.
B - Tap each permanent target player controls with exactly one word in its name. (Works with Mountain, Island, Plains, Swamp, Forest, most tokens and hyphenated words)
C - Draw a card from an opponent’s library.
D - Turn over target nontoken creature.
E - Roll two six-sided dice. Target player mills X cards, where X is the total of those results.
I could see someone play B in a higher powered cube with stuff like Tarmogoyf. It's also an extra four-cost Snapcaster Mage with extra junk.
