Thoughtseize How's the queen of discard spells in lower powered cubes? It's a 1 for 1, trading down in mana and life ... but it can really mess up a curve, right? And even without fast combo kills, decks have key cards, don't they?

To me midrange is more value oriented than aggro/tempo but more proactive than control. And both of these creatures seem like a great fit. I've also came up with Dismissive Pyromancer and Inferno Titan for both ends of the curve. Not sure if there are any spells beyond the burn you'd play in...

What are your favorite red midrange cards printed before 2019? I can only come up with Flametongue Kavu. And now Siege-Gang Commander.

I don't think that's true. This set has a few fishermen as a 6/5 with ward and Ordinary Bear who eats Smaug the Magnificient in combat. Actually, I wish they would do bolder top-down designs and not hold onto mechanical needs that much.

I don't know if I underestimate the fail case of you not having anything relevant to bounce, but this card seems kinda decent to me. If you support both a blink and a landfall theme, this can work in a variety of decks. I don't think this would be like a high pick, but it could be a solid...

This could actually be an interesting role player. It kind of fits into all my red archetypes. It's a goblin or even two. It's decent if you discard it. It's a non-creature spell. I kind of wish this one was hybrid because it's so flexible, yet low impact, but I think the rate might be just good...

Honestly, I sometimes forget that the set is UB. Cards just look like magic cards to me. Unlike Aetherdrift or Outlaws.
