Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I've been tweaking the cube, partly to smooth out mana curves, get rid of underperformers and such. Still, there's some archetype work as well: RED COPY STORM I had already wet my feet with a couple cards, so I decided to try the rest: Seething Song Seething Song Bonus Round Krark, the...

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

I'm looking for two cards. - A replacement for Light up the Stage to avoid the Spectacle text. - A token maker to replace Pest Infestation, which is busted. Awaken the woods seems bad? Light Up the Stage Pest Infestation

    Nanonox's 1vs1 cube

There is a real potential for the Squandered archetype. These cards are already in our cubes or easy to slot in: Parasitic: Second Sunrise Faith's Reward Natural Balance Scapeshift Natural Balance only finds basics, but it puts them into play untapped. There are a ton of similar effects...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I just drafted a deck around Wildfire and, to my surprise, I kept adding creatures that survived it until they became the majority of the deck. It seems to lean too much into the expensive side, but it should actually play great. What do you think...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

After going through countless changes, I've realized that I just don't have enough archetypes in my cube. That's why I can cut and add so many cards, they could all be Brushwhagg and nothing would change! Here's a rought list of my archetypes: AGGRO Humans Champion of the Parish Thalia's...

    Nanonox's 1vs1 cube

Kaerverk is great. My issue with it is that it promotes black so much. It's not that it recurs black cards, that's fine. It's that the best cards to go with it are Dark Ritual, Fatal Push and Thoughtseize. So it's too monoblack for my tastes. Fun card, though!

I just want to say, I tried out your cube and I loved the premise a lot. I like the archetypes and how they worked!

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Focusing on a different cheat package is something to consider, particularly if I want to differentiate the artifact deck from, well, everything else! Personally, I don't like Natural Order much (why? isn't Tinker better already?), but Flash looks like something more of us should try. I never...

Vampiric Tutor Demonic Tutor Both extremely powerful cards. Which one do you prefer and why? Is Demonic "too easy" or "a bit too expensive"? Is not getting the card into your hand with Vampiric a huge issue for combo? Do you mind the change in CMC? Let me know!

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I'm reworking the chunk of the cube that isn't performing and one archetype I'm hopeful for is RG Monsters: Tarmogoyf Burning-Tree Emissary Mawloc Flamewake Phoenix Pyrogoyf Terror of the Peaks Embercleave Ox of Agonas EDIT: Forgot about this: Bristly Bill, Spine Sower Most of these cards...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Safra sent me a few Legacy Replenish decklist and I love how they look. First, you have what I think is the best approach: Just using it a big value card with cheap or general-use enchantments: Colossal Landstill Shark Typhoon Dress Down Standstill Colossal Skyturtle But it's a shame I cannot...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

It's hard and sometimes the cards you need just don't exist. Personally, I just go through cycles of just changing cards in and out and being careful about what archetypes exist and how they are performing. Simply drafting a ton and making a list of what decks were drafted can help a lot. As...

Sets (MH3/M3C) Modern Horizons 3 Testing and Includes Thread

Marionette Apprentice Warren Soultrader Blood Artist has a nice effect, but I was never satisfied with it or any of its variants. They have irrelevant bodies and always end up being a little more narrow than you would like them too. Marionette Apprentice solves these issues with a decent body...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

That's a good way to measure it. I think I've lost track of my archetypes, so perhaps I should write it down! I'll write more about Modern Horizons 3 once everything gets updated. In the meanwhile, I'm giving Replenish a second though and perhaps Academy Rector as well. The core looks like...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Oath of Druids This is a unique card, but I worry about two things: 1) Avoiding creatures often results in decks that don't work 2) It can be used as a sideboard card to crush aggro, since it's splashable. Thoughts?

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

It's fantastic, since it helps push higher mana costs in decks that would normally avoid them. You can create a cheat package with it, blink and Windbrisk Heights, which is also fun.

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Even though I've kept updating my cube, I haven't said much about it here. Let's do an overview. Currently, the best thing about my cube is how you can shift from one archetype to the other, be it during the draft or even the deckbuilding process. I've gone from forced archetypes, driven by...
