I asked in the local premodern facebook group if they were fine with proxies and several people responded with "it's against the spirit of the format", so at least here in Stockholm the premodern scene is very grognardy.

I think Pre-Modern looks cool, but I fear it's one of those "doomed" formats you can't really get your friends to start playing, because some of the important cards are prohibitively expensive and not being reprinted. Say what you will about commander, but at least it's today a pretty well...

Sure. I wouldn't say it's any indication MH3 was "problematic". Arguably it did what it indented to do which is shake up existing non-rotating formats.

Honestly heroic triggering of abilities is pretty great! It benefits from being targeted with e.g. mother of runes as well.

Sets [FDN] Foundations (a new Core Set)

Honestly feels kinda cool. Being able to have a more reliable card pool for standard seems great for making the prospect of getting into the format more appealing. It feels like moving the needle slightly towards an "expandable card game" in that you can easily get (some of) the staple cards.

Huh, pretty cool that they're actual just tharmagoyf but with some added stuff. (Compare with e.g. the other Lhurgoyfs that count other kinds of things than card types in all yards)

Eehh uhh but like. Slapping "this enchantment is totally a creature guys. Except in any mechanical way" would be pretty goofy?

MH3 kinda feels like someone at wotc searched scryfall for black artifact cards and went "huh, why aren't there any?" and boom a bunch of them

I know it's a rare but, I feel like if any card using a set mechanic can't include the reminder text it needs to be redesigned.

Another nice little goober! I honestly love that Wizards can take good mechanics that they originally printed on crap ass cards, and instead put them on pretty normal sized creatures. A 1/1 with prowess that can also bestow to grant +1/+1 and prowess is awesome, love it. This is magic, to me.

I mean, at this point there's a bazillion magic cards. Not playing double faced cards still leaves an abundance of cards to build a cube from.

I love the modern horizon sets so much. Nothing like having scryfalled cool mechanics, go "mh, guess I'll settle with 1 or 2 cards" for a MH set to come and add a bunch more cool cards. Love it!
