No no my point is, by the time you've played a five drop and five lands your hand is probably going to be close to empty so how are you meant to reliably trigger heroic on this thing. Isn't it better just to top of with some beefy 5-drop or play a lower curve in the heroic deck?

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Aa hm maybe. It costs 5 so you must've played 5 lands. Are you going to have any spells left to trigger the heroic with after casting this?

Yeah +1 on that. I had villain play the big monke against me on turn five with the help of that land which turned out to be quite a beating. Card's solid!

Yeah, I'll be damned if that card doesn't require a very particular kind of removal suite. Essentially you have to have instant speed unconditional removal at 4 cmc at the cheapest, or else you'll probably never have an open window to cast that card.

I would say he's good, and can probably be held somewhat in check if your format has enough non-lethal removal (i.e. exiling removal or aura-based removal).

Yeah, don't underestimate how brutal it is to be able to get a surprise blocker that can't be countered and draws you a card. Even if you kill it, they're up a card, and if you don't and they get to kill one of your attackers, you're down two cards (relatively).

I've played with Blitz in a UR tempo deck in standard, and even in a dedicated constructed deck it's only ok. If you play a ton of spells it can of course kill any fatty for just two mana which is good, but you have to do that really late, which means you're early game is much weaker. Most of...

Silverquill Command seems really interesting in a weenie reanimator deck, since it can both help rebuild the resources with reanimation + draw card, but also open up for an alpha strike with the sac and pup+flying. I think card looks good! Edit: How much would any of you bet on any strix cards...

To be clear, I meant that the statement was vacuous, not you ;) To me it was like stating "The french team is really bad", where there's some important context missing. I think I can agree with you somewhat that slower decks probably are going to enjoy gold cards more, although I'd stick to...

You're paying 5 in total but you don't play it on turn 5 the earliest, though.

Hm yeah, that it happens at the upkeep does mean your opponent get's the ETB first.

From what I've seen on twitter and reddit, this B&R is encouraging news for people who want to play competitive mtg.

Hmm even without the lifegain I think Day of Judgement is better. One more mana isn't one turn later strictly, because you have to actually draw the lands, so in actuality it's sometimes going to be played on turn 5-6? I think that gives more room for aggro to breath.

"Boros is not an aggro guild" is to me a completely vacuous statement, it doesn't make sense unless we're talking about a specific draft environment.

Calamity Bearer Aegar, the Freezing Flame I double strike 3/4 is fine, but it pairs pretty well with some other giants that you'd probably be able to run! Bonecrusher Giant Cloudgoat Ranger Thryx, the Sudden Storm Frost Titan Inferno Titan Beanstalk Giant Kroxa, Titan of Death's Hunger...
