Sets [IKO] Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths

I ain't missing out on rules clarifications and Giant Adephage (I know that's a lot of rules baggage, but my players love Grusilda, Monster Masher so we'll probably be fine) And yes all of these keyword token cards are probably going straight into any cube I make.

Sets [IKO] Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths

Jaegers aren't until Return to Ikoria six to seven years from now, if or when the set does well ;) Also I would completely play Back for More if I had a Golgari section... maybe I should go back to wedge colors... but I've already changed my colors based on this thread like six different...

Sets [IKO] Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths

I was holding out hope for this and it turns out that the mad lads of the Riptide Lab were right! Now that I can get my thoughts on forum, this is basically MTG: Kaijudo Duel Masters, which is a great game! But I kind of hate its combat and spells when compared to the very rich Magic: the...

    Sets Ikoria Inquiry

I'm down for all of that, I would also hope that we can give any creature these counters like recycla-bird and not just a creature with mutate. That would open up a lot of design space, especially giving green more trample. On topic, Godzilla isn't legendary because godzilla is a species not a...

    Sets Ikoria Inquiry

Unfortunate, but makes sense. It would be hard to convince my friends to do a booster box at this time anyway "Yes, while huddling close together we open cards from a booster, observing, breathing, touching, and laughing on them, then we pass them to the person to our left." "I... think that's...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

They're a cute Exodia, but even in kitchen-sink magic I could never get them to work. The biggest issue is that you want to cast your cards on curve to keep on board with your opponent, but most token cards are less cmc than them. Yes call of the herd and increasing devotion are the dream, but...

    Card/Deck Tokens

I see, Cube is definitely something you should feel out firsthand so it's good you noticed. To me trimming it sounds good, and you can use what the thread has discussed so far to do that. Do keep messing with it though, I have a similar theme, but in different colors so I'm curious how yours...

    Card/Deck Tokens

It depends on the size of your cube, but if you're looking to make say populate good with cards like vitu-ghazi guildmage: I looked at the asfan on Return to Ravnica for token makers and it's .77 per pack. For a 360 cube that's around 20 cards that are token makers. BUT for Cube I always give a...

    Sets Ikoria Inquiry

Reading that thread reminded me of this article https://thehardtimes.net/harddrive/magic-the-gathering-player-confident-opponent-isnt-ready-for-new-decks-secret-weapon/ EDIT: Looks like that thread was deleted, some other posters say that the leaks are fake, but I can't find where they got...

    Sets Ikoria Inquiry

The Narset planeswalker is intriguing to me cuz most of the tri-colored Jeskai cards are pretty "eh" and the Abzan wedge also makes it possible that this is a wedge set, but I'm not sure if we can prove it yet. Throne of Eldraine had shards in their Brawl decks so they could be doing the same...

    General CBS

Absolutely, I also had that perfectionist mindset for a long time as a DM in DnD, and that mindset can be absolutely devastating to players who want to express themselves and for the story to go in a more open-ended direction. This video best describes the type of dichotomy that happened...

    General CBS

I had a very long and well thought out post (which you can believe if you can discount the idea that I am evaluating my own thoughts) that was lost to time and habitually hitting control-c for something else. But yes, I think it is normal to hit road blocks for designing. My point of the matter...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I like it, defiant strike also is not as bad as it looks, white slightly faster needle drop that helps prowess decks is good. (but I would consider it weaker than guided strike).

    General Fight Club

I think I follow now, more of like if these were the last two cards in a pack and you're already in blue/black which would you choose? If that's the case, I think cloudfin raptor beats gluttonous slug every time. Like trainmasterGT said, the turn two clock is pretty slow compared to a clock that...

    General Fight Club

That sounds less like a fight club and more like a, "if we coexist together, we could rule our respective CMCs" club. Pelt collector I consider a bit stronger, but human on the ooze is usually more relevant in cube, the regeneration is also relevant to survive sweepers. I prefer the ooze...

General Let's talk about generating value

I elaborated myself I based my card evaluations off of untamed kavu cuz grizzly bears doesn't cut it anymore, but obviously I am not perfect ;) (I'm second guessing pierce the sky, I think it should be higher value, but it is a niche card). Also this is not entirely granular, not everyone will...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Compared to Shunt I would actually say Bolt Bend is a little bit better (even when cast for 4) for one big reason that I didn't mention. It can swerve abilities as well, which since you run Flametongue Kavu, Nekrataal, Cast Out, and Waterfront Bouncer that could make for some very fun scenarios...
