Goose is better than Birds in many archetypes.

I actually think Goose is bad design, regardless of Oko. One-drop dorks that tap for rainbow colors are too efficient. There’s a reason why WorC stopped printing Birds of Paradise in Standard.

Random assortment of utility lands doesn't really scream out as a cycle to me. If anything, I'd be looking for the other artifact lands if I saw the red one because that card implies a cycle.

The set was explicitly designed for enfranchised players, so yeah you're probably not going to appreciate all the little nods to older stuff if you're a newer player. There is also admittedly a lot of tribal stuff in the set, which I also generally don't care for in cube. On the other hand...

I might test this in place of Carrion Feeder. Menace means it can get in early for a few points in places where Feeder would get stalled out, and I think getting two counters instead of one is worth the mana cost in the activation.

I'm just excited to see more Boros cards that aren't centered around the combat step.

It can go in either, to be honest. Lots of monocolored cards work best in certain guilds, so there’s no shame in making it a Golgari-leaning green card. It can also fit into a guild section since even though it can go in any green deck, Golgari ones will value it higher.
