I get where you're coming from for most of these, but Cathedral Acolyte seems as if it could be generic Magic. Clothing, name, types, glowing stuff could be all sorts of places. Aren't there cathedrals on Ravnica and Innistrad?

Fair point. I was thinking about synergy with my own deck but antisynergy with my opponent’s deck could be just as effective.

Avatar feels more white than blue. Anthems and +1/+1 counters are ways to break the symmetry of its effect, and those are often more prevalent in white than blue. If you’re okay with that it is a cool card ( with massive blowout potential if your opponent has removal).

This is what I use for my Jumpstart cube, with Dragon Shield Cube Shells for each pack. The main cube is in a Quiver case, which I recommend. It does limit my cube to 450-500 cards single sleeved if I want space for tokens, dice and basic lands, but that is my preferred cube size anyway.

I’ve used Facebook groups for selling high value cards over the last year with some success. Serialised cards appear there from time to time. I’ve used a UK based group to avoid international shipping, but other groups are available.

Thrive would probably not be printable in an actual set: if it didn't break standard it would probably break an eternal format. In cube it seems like an excellent way to explicitly support token decks, with the occasional opportunity to do something absurd.

Ring may well be better despite the echo because it comes down a turn earlier, which can be crucial against faster decks. Both are showing their age against modern creatures, though.

What about Necrophage, which refers to feeding on the flesh of carrion or other animals that are already dead. This is based more on knowledge of Ancient Greek than English, but the point stands.

I don’t mind the mechanic: it reminds me a bit of the kindle spells in Coldsnap. I like how the spells will scale up as the game goes on. Getting sufficient density for it to be worthwhile might be difficult in cube.
