I actually think the new damage rules sound way more straight forward and intuitive, I welcome it. Sure you now might have to device some new tactics but, whatever. The streamlining seems worth it.

Hmm... that's very interesting. If some cards turn out to be staples, it's probably very cheap to just buy a couple more of them. Plus, having a local card pool meta with some pre-constructed decks probably encourages people just dropping by to play (as is often customary in EDH circles). Edit...
