I think Modern Masters and ISD are where I would look to if I was looking to build a budget friendly cube that stilled had excellent interactions. For example in my peasant cube I've had great success implementing a graveyard deck that isn't too secular or "poisonous"

I would say Dream Halls ,Future Sight, Mind Over Matter,and Omniscience are the most common targets but there's also various Animate Dead effects as well as hate cards like Leyline of the Void,Curse of Exhaustion, and Stony Silence etc. etc. and then other stuff like Mirari's Wake and Mana Flare...
