    General Cultic Cube video series

Very nice video. I want to say: Love the production values, you have gone a long way since your first videos :)

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Ok, since we are talking about durdling, let's talk about a card that is neither high nor low in power, but simply...interesting: Elixir of Immortality (Spoiler: I really like this card, even if people play it in the wrong decks)

The art is fantastic, a shame the card isn't great.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

    This offends my durdling sensibilities.

I keep looking at the card and it just looks so..wrong. Why are the Phyrexian mana symbols so much larger than the 4? Oh no, I just realized hybrid mana symbols are also larger than normal symbols. Sorry everyone, the game is broken.

Isn't Scuttling Doom Engine kind of dumb? As in, doesn't it just win games because they can't answer it without dying? Or because you Welder it for another 6 points of damage after a swing.

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Well I just went, drafted your cube and got a nice GW deck going without much effort. So it shouldn't be that hard, should it? ;) www.cubetutor.com/cubedeck/1157049[/url]"] Ones 1 Birds of Paradise 1 Dryad Militant 1 Gnarlwood Dryad 1 Kytheon, Hero of Akros 1 Path to Exile 1 Rancor Twos 1...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I'm not sold on those cards Knifethrower. The theme is very questionable when you have the disruption and better, less parasitic humans of Blue and Black. In my experience Humans doesn't care about mana dorks much, if simply because the linchpin of the deck is Champion of the Parish at the mere...

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

The issue I have with GW is that, in the end, I either end up with a minor coloured splash or the deck ends up being worse than it would be in another colour combination. For example, GW midrange ends up being a much worse version of GR midrange and it comes up less naturally. A GW deck has...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

That's sad to hear, but helpful. Like you say, there are some cards that care about the graveyard but there just aren't enough ways to put the actual cards there. You do bring up two themes that I I like, but the issue is that they are significantly better in other colours. In fact, it's the...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

I've finally decided to abandon the +1/+1 archetype. While it gave a much needed identity to GW, it was very closed on itself and ended up feeling parasitic. None of the cards involved in the archetype helped the other colours, or forced me to make significant changes that worsened them. Most...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Living Death is a very powerful card even if you don't build around it. You can slam a copy in the average deck of The Rock and have it win games. In fact, it was played in The Rock back in the day, without any graveyard shenanigans whatsoever. The trick is that it's strongest when you are...

    General Fight Club

The issue I have with the design is not that it makes the card as powerful as Treachery or as weak as Great Whale, but that the card undercosts itself as part of its effect. I don't think a 4 mana Planeswalker should have 2 mana rebate, even if it's not as powerful as a full rebate would be...

    General Fight Club

I heavily dislike Garruk's untap ability because it halves its cost in the same way Treachery's untap ability makes it free. Like I mentioned in another thread, I still don't know why Wizards finds the "free mechanic" acceptable in Planeswalkers but Garruk is not the only offender. Beyond...

Sorry! But, truth to be told, I don't know what direction to give to GW. I tried +1/+1 counters but found it parasitic and not that fun.

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

I'm looking for cards that support GW decks but aren't gold cards. It seems to me, GW is one of the weakest colour pairings and lacks the best of both colours, with a handful of exceptions (Lands.dec). So I'm looking for generic cards that can help the pairing.

Given Wizard's increasingly questionable definition of "Island", is that wrong? =P Nah, I feel you.

They would be cheated into play (via Sneak Attack, Reanimator) or ramped. Ultimately, it's a I-win button. The sensation is that you have been playing a nice game, then your opponent plays this and the game ends. So yeah, now that I've written that, I don't know why I'm trying to make them work.

Here's another one of my own, to add to Mondschwein's question: Which one is less powerful? Craterhoof Behemoth or End-Raze Forerunners Or, in other words, which one of these is the less dumb Overrun variant?

    General Fight Club

Ritual goes in more decks, is cheaper and has more play as it works both when destroying other player creatures and your own. I'm also not sure Aristocrats wants to be BG and get up to 5 mana even if it wins the game. As for the later, I'm not fond of either card. They are very much the kind...
