I wasn't trying to put your words to shame, I was just curious to know more about what you thought :)
I agree poison is super parasitic (I'm pretty sure Jason named the Poison Principle after this very mechanic?). I do think that now with the toxic mechanic, it might be possible to pull off a...
I think a big part of the reason why Magic isn't the way you remember it in the past is that the focus of the game has shifted from Noncreature spells to Creatures.
The last 15 years or so have been defined by creatures reaching the power level of the spells of early Magic. While Tarmogoyf is a...
To be fair, many of these changes come back to the end of blocks. It used to be that the Mechanics in the fall set would carry all the way to the spring set, with between 4 and 6 more mechanics being layered over the fall mechanics in the subsequent sets. Now, the new mechanics in the fall sets...
What constitutes as "all in?" Would you need a full-blown Poison Cube, or just a Poison component in something like a Proliferate Cube? Could it just be a large archetype or would it need to be foundational to the Cube?
May I present: the world's cutest Mother of Runes!
I wonder how many good cards need to have toxic before there's enough that people feel comfortable giving the mechanic a try. I think toxic is gravy on most cards with the mechanic– I definitely don't think these cards need a poison archetype...
I'm of the opinion that White counterspells shouldn't be much more powerful than Quench. As much as I love countermagic, I think too many counterspells lead to unfun gameplay where one or more players are unable to resolve anything. Unironically I think that's the reason why so many people hate...
I’m Echoing what you say. The only thing that I would be concerned about is the fact that you can only sac once per turn with this— if that’s not an issue this card is really fun.
How about 25 years of history of White life payments?
Order of the Sacred Torch
Protective Sphere
Crovax, Ascendant Hero
Adanto Vanguard
White isn’t allowed to get life payments very often— the flavor is a little odd most of the time and it could be too powerful as White is the primary color of...
Upgrading Saffi Eriksdotter into a Watchwolf seems fantastic. I like how they're taking two cards that haven't been relevant in constructed in a long time and stapling them together for a second lease on life in Standard/Pioneer.
Melira is a great continuation of landofMordor's Watchwolf...
I'm not 100% sure how to evaluate this card, but I think it's both a cool engine and win condition for reactive decks. Maybe she'll help people get over their Heliophobia?
Fantastic Ux Spells card! It's nice to see blue getting more cards that contribute to the aggressive portion of the Spells decks and not simply being a source of triggers. Will definitely be including this one.
When WOTC eventually does the Polynesia and Roman Empire worlds, it would be funny to build an entire Cube called "Oko on Vacation" which is just Oko and a bunch of cards from sunny, warm locations like Theros, Ixalan, Naya, and Jamuraa.
Slash Panther
This is Slash Panther. It was once a Vintage staple because it could come down on turn 1 with the help of Mishra's Workshop and a Mox and kill a pesky Jace, the Mind Sculptor before the opponent can react.
It is no longer a Vintage Staple because elk man has too much loyalty.
Oko...
