What’s wrong with echo? The same thing that is wrong with all upkeep triggers?

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Besides the point of bootman, deed is often used in decks with high mana cost creatures (compared to the rest of the field). Therefore, the deed can be a one-sided effect. Breaking the symmetry on damnation is harder.

Well, how many turns can you exile a creature from your graveyard? Especially in the zombify colours

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Yes and no. The one green is often a lot better than a colourless (Eldrazi shizzle/fake 6th colour forgetting) when playing more than one colour. You need a shitload of legendaries to have the second ability be worth it. Yes, the 1/2 as opposed to the 1/1 is important. But does it really matter...

Sets (LTR) The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth

Well, not true. The one ring has a real downside. It makes you visible to the Nazgûl. And the Nazgûl are stronger than any man (only beatable by a hobbit and a woman in the book). Tolkiens writing is kind of sexist, as most fantasy.

And that is why there were blocks: Thematically the same, art style the same, and in the beginning even the same abilities!

Thing is: in the old days there were 2 a 3 new abilities in the first set which was expanded upon in the next sets. This was changed to 2 abilities per set. Hence no use for blocks. Thing is that expanding was really nice from a play experience. We do not need blocks, just expanding the next sets.

Will not work, it is very easy to block one creature if you want to protect it.

Holy fuck. That card is bad even in old standards. The only thing that is good about it is that is mythic. So in a draft/sealed you won’t see it that often as opposed to Last caress

You are right that tribal is hard to do in cube/limited (especially if you have more than one tribe in a colour). An exception is when the support is accidentally, like beasts. Onslaught has more to offer so I would suggest just ignoring tribal and only add support when you think the tribe is...

Well, let’s split it into some parts: Inni/rav cube: Nope, my playgroup is used to old cards and the playstyle that comes with it, e.g, weak creatures and no must answer cards. rarity ratio: almost equal between rare, uncommon, and common. In those days rarity often did not imply power, but...

Do not worry and do not question your evaluation abilities. It all depends on the environment whether a card is good or not. It is entirely possible to have a low powered environment with very high powered cards. It is harder, but not impossible to have seemingly weak cards in a high powered...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Well, yes and no. It should probably be an overcosted spell and an ‘overcosted’ land. If the land is as good as a normal land in your deck than it is a no brainier to include (even a shock for 5 mana). A small example: Slippery karst With Drawventure forest Adventure part: y colourless mana...

@Velrun yes, but those cards require a spell slot in your deck. With adventure lands you can have as many spells in your deck as cards. That is also true with manlands.

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Most replies which disagree with me point to cycling/horizon/dfc lands/channel or something akin. Those examples increase the spell density of your deck. However, those examples are either the land or the spell! Man lands are a tad different. But they require a mana cost each time (and yes...

Yes, you can make them inherently bad. However any adventure land with a mana cost which has a probability to be cast is likely strong (unless the land is tempest enemy dual land bad). Adventure is a spell+a land. You cast the adventure and can play the land immediately afterwards. It is more...

I do like adventure lands. The problem is that it is a free spell. Companion showed how dangerous an 8th card is. Adventure lands are treading the same dangerous space.

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

The problem with adventure lands is that when you can play the adventure, is that you can play the land part immediately after that. This makes the adventure lands really strong. Not only really strong but close to busted since you get the spell part for free.
