    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Iirc I read somewhere (maybe the old mothership, maybe phyrexia) that in the early days the art style was anything goes. In other words: there was no world building. Along the way a rough guide book what things should look like came along. This guide was made by Pete Venters who oversaw the art...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

True. Thing is, it is a good card if you can put a basic land in your graveyard in turn 1 or 2. However, it is definitely haggling when discarding your only land on turn 1 and not drawing a land to cast the wurm. The wurm is even in low powered likely weak on turn 4 (unless you have smokestack...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

It is a strong comeback card with wildfire Rogue elephant Orcish lumberjack Raze Thing is, low powered as I play, it is often a dead card in your hand until much later due to not having a basic land in the graveyard. At that time a 3/2 is not going to cut it.

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

It is definitely a card I run in green aggro in my urza cube. Why? well the life often does not matter in aggro, but the multiple bodies it can generate is. Yes 8 mana, but it is over two turns. Thing is with aggro, one often runs out of gas at a certain point. The creatures of your opponent...

How strong are the creatures in your cube? One can think of thran war machine Juggernaut

In order: roar of the wurm Beast attack Grizzly fate Rise of the ants Why? Well roar has cheap flashback so is useful in many decks. Beast attack due to the surprise factor. Grizzly fate which is fun with threshold. Leaves rise of the ants, which is compared to the others low powered. Which is...

For one more mana you get lands... Awaken is much stronger, it also ramps.

Well, working in an old border cube and having battleforge angel which invalidates all other creatures in that cube does that. Tldr: I am curious how to balance the angel with any old border cube. That said: I am thinking on an admission from the old timers viewpoint. Edit: I do not mean this...

Sets (MKM) Murders at Karlov Manor Previews

Do not underestimate a land that draws cards. It will feel like the thing that does not win the game, but it does. Mtg is an atrocious game. (Yes autocorrect from attrition, too funny to correct)

Necromancy? Or a variant thereof. (Or voodoo, but that has nothing to do with corpses).

I would make it before the untap step you may change the emblem. In this way one avoids double dipping in the anthem. If the emblem holds for both persons then one can go wild with the emblems.

General Favorite cube cards from the late 90/early 2000s

Sometimes you do not want to draft (yes, the horror I know). With jumpstart you get variance, but often you just mash two themes together. That is a different kind of variance than with a deck of 60 cards that follow one or two themes over all the cards. If one adheres to each nonland card 4...

General Favorite cube cards from the late 90/early 2000s

I have followed something similar, but having most cards double or triple let to repetitive games. I have been looking at the pre-constructed decks of urza block and oddessey. These decks had 2x1 rares, between 11 and 14 uncommons (urza’s saga), and at least 20 different non-land cards (but...

General Favorite cube cards from the late 90/early 2000s

Thing is: I have made decks in the past. Either the preconstructed ones or ones where the decks did not have more than 6 rares, no card more than three times and uncommens/rares not more than two of the same. Thing is, they were much more boring than expected compared to the preconstructed ones...
