General Emotional Spikes in Cube Design

Control isn't the biggest player in my cube atleast. Why do i want to bolster midrange and aggro, that will do fine even without creature lands? I think it's a little overkill to give cards that randomly hose control when there are already so many creatures that survive wraths or give so much...

General Emotional Spikes in Cube Design

Well any card can make for super interesting games given the right circumstance? Sometimes you might have to think should you pay mana to kill a planeswalker even though your opponent might have removal or something, but still creaturelands should probably always be saved for the very end of the...

Brimstone Volley, because you can play it in any deck containing red instead of balls-to-the-walls aggro only which Cackling Flames is signaling to me.

General Emotional Spikes in Cube Design

Wasteland and Strip Mine without Loam and Crucible of Worlds to me are just really dull picks. It rarely generates interesting situations. You either sucker punch a mana screwed player or you just slowed someone a little, big deal.. Wastelands seem to be in cubes just to answer creaturelands...

Wasteland makes bouncelands unappealing. Took wastelands out. Haven't missed wasteland / strip mine at all really.

    Card/Deck Madness Theme

Compulsion takes games, it actually might be too powerful depending on the cube. I would play it in a power cube also, it's that good. Reanimator / Madness synergy or just a way to cycle through your deck to the juicy parts. It also just draws a card if you happen to be in a sticky situation.

    Old Borders Power Cube

My 30th birthday gaming event is coming next weeks weekend (real birthday in christmas) and i wanted to make this cube in time for that event. Because i realized i probably should make this event early, i now know i can't make this whole cube in time. So i might try make this 360 for now and...

General Emotional Spikes in Cube Design

In our cube sessions my reject rare cube has offered me and my gaming group the biggest emotional spikes. People are laughing when drafting. Yelling when they find a stupid synergy that might actually work. Scream in despair from seeing cards like Mammoth Harness. The game play can be pretty...

General Emotional Spikes in Cube Design

It's a work under construction still. I'm missing 300 cards and all the sleeves from this cube at the moment. I was planning to make it to my 30th birthday, but i can't make it in time because i have to have my birthday (excuse to play all weekend) a few months early :( I will happily oblige...

If your cube has Damnation, then definitely Toxic Deluge. I don't understand why not. If your cube doesn't have Damnation, then objectively i can see why you would want Languish over Toxic Deluge, still i would probably go for Toxic Deluge. It has more crunch to it. You can't always use it...

General Emotional Spikes in Cube Design

I agree with your points. Having something that annoys the opponent can make a good kind of tention to the board state. If you have something like a Thrun in play which i loathe so much in cubes nowadays, i will be dancing around the table when i get that sucker out of the board. It made me have...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I checked my cube so i could remember why Languish wasn't in my cube. The answer was Toxic Deluge. Is Toxic Deluge too much to handle in low power cubes? I think it's a little worse than Damnation most of the time, but much more interesting.

    General Expensive Eldrazi Domain Cards

Tamiyo is too oppressive in my experiences. It warps the game too much to "kill it or lose the game" and Tamiyo makes sure the opponent will not have his most useful weapon to kill Tamiyo with her +1. If the board is empty, tapping a land can be crucial. I replaced her with Jace, Unraveler of...

    General Fight Club

Tracker and Mysteries in my mind tries to outvalue the opponent by gaining card advantage. Tireless Tracker is generating that value more easily, while Mysteries require a lot of setup to be of any use. 1/1s aren't that exceptional in my opinion to go nuts over Evolutionary Leap. Leap makes your...

    General Fight Club

Well i know how the card worked in the stock draft. It was okay. Not the best. You need 5 mana to gain any value from it and you need a dude of yours dead. Evolutionary Leap just works. It's pretty close to Survival of the Fittest, not as strong, but Leap has its applications where Survival...

Leap is miles better than mysteries. Mysteries has a nontoken clause which makes it really bad and uninteresting in my opinion.... for cube.
