On a serious note... is Hero of Bladehold GRBS? I guess I never really scrunitized her, but she does put an obscene amount of power onto the table if she's allowed to turn sideways even twice.

And I think both of these points are kind of the greater point. I'd sum it up as: A. The dream is to have an incredibly deep, fun environment with tons of replay value. B. The safety net is that you can make gigantic mistakes in any given iteration without destroying the fun of the experience...

Kinda reminds me of Open the Vaults which was sort of a card during my first season of competitive standard (although let's be honest I just played jund instead and crushed people with my awesome slot machine of a deck)

This, definitely. People actually said this to me when I had my first (really shitty) cube. Once I realized that you could make tons of mistakes and still generally have a pretty fun format, I didn't stress nearly as much.

I still feel like honored hierarch sucks, but then again I was REALLY really wrong about another ORI card. Kinda feel like the pondstorm convo is close to taking a turn for the worse, which sucks. If nothing else, you guys gave me like a billion cool ideas that I'll type up in a new thread...

re: the zozu point, I wouldn't force the red drafter to run fetches if he didn't want to, but I think your real point is "where's the love for the monocolored guy?" which is definitely something I'd need to brainstorm about a bit. (Because does anyone actually run Zozu?). I don't really see...

Okay so here's a crazy thought that I had, and have not refined at all. But what if we just.... gave people fetchlands? I don't know what the right number would be, how I'd do it, what changes I'd make to my fetchland count within my 360, etc. But I think it's an interesting thought experiment...

My thought is that whether the gain is worth the complexity burden is going to be very largely playgroup dependent / idiosyncratic in nature. The better takeaway, IMO, is that we should be cognizant of this tradeoff always, for everything. I'm certainly guilty of throwing complexity in...
