I think it's more that that card has built-in synergy with adding counters. There wasn't cheap repeatable proliferate in Scars block either.

Falkenrath Gorger seems like a bit of a new drafter trap given that there's only one other vampire in red, not that many in black, and the only gold one already has madness.

Re: Ever After vs. Twilight's Call That's what I was getting at but didn't explain thoroughly enough, so thanks for saying what I meant. :) Ever After is more of a midrange value card where Call is more of a Johnny/combo card. The option to give it flash also adds some surprise factor as well...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

All Hallow's Eve gets major flavor points, but is certainly not low-powered when it comes to my wallet. :( Ever After is probably more consistent than Twilight's Call at the 6-drop slot, but that's not necessarily better or worse.

Quick thoughts after an initial viewing: Why not just pick one of Sextant/Star/Sphere and run however many you want? I realize that there are slight play differences between them, but if you're already breaking singleton why not just run six of whichever version of you prefer? Thoughts on Codex...

Not that this is a huge risk for me, but I'm giving Aether Revolt a 90% chance of bringing back proliferate. There's just too much going on with counters for them not to and it'd be a chance to use it in a +1/+1 counters environment.

I know a bunch of us were waiting to see what the new Intro Pack planeswalkers would look like. These seem pretty reasonable curve toppers. The abilities are very straightforward, which I assume is intentional given the nature of the product. I'll be curious to see how this card series...

I love create as a way to cut down on extra rules text, but much like other templating changes, it's going to annoy me that I'll have a mix of the new and old wording in my cube. *sigh*

Gearhulk seems too pushed for my tastes. I'd play it as a 6-drop no problem.

I know they've been discussed before, but what do people think of the Souls cycle now that they've been around for awhile? Soul of Theros Soul of Ravnica Soul of Innistrad Soul of Shandalar Soul of Zendikar Soul of New Phyrexia Ravnica seems the worst designed as the activated abilities seem...

What's sad about double cloning Solemn is that it's still less powerful than just casting a Primeval Titan.

Someone can double check my math, but I believe casting this on Precursor Golem leaves you with a total of thirteen 3/3 golems - the original card, four copies of the card golem, and eight total vanilla tokens.

Also, if Crush of Tentacles is too high of a power level for your cube, then Rise from the Tides is best storm card available. It even counts the spells you cast earlier in the game!

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

The best storm card in unpowered cubes is Crush of Tentacles (alhtough it's probably too good for most low-powered formats, heh). More seriously, I think Hunting Pack is probably something people should give a second look to if they want an actual storm finisher that doesn't require keeping...

A mechanic can functionally work in two players games and still be specifically made for multiplayer. As described in the preview articles, the intention behind monarch is to put a spotlight on a single player in a group game to encourage attacking, and even attack a variety of players over...
