Just goes to show how heavy the competition is for the slot :) I've got an Ember Swallower lying around, but haven't gotten around to testing it, because the Wildfire deck doesn't come together all that often here. How have people's experience been with it if they've run it?

Used to do it, but red's four slot is just so packed, and haste is just so so good at that spot. I could see it meriting further consideration if you push wildfire or red control more heavily, considering it just sticks around after a quake or wildfire.

Funny, I was thinking the Rusalka without the mana activation cost and the more conventional blue looting (draw -> discard) would be nifty.

I might give CFB a try, I've always used Trollandtoad, since they had cheap international shipping and decent selection/prices. And yeah, MKM sucks for bulk purchases. And cradle was also 30$ on Troll, it's insane. About the blue. What about the artifact.dec? Can it be made to work without...

It does lose a lot if you're not capable of attacking on the turn you play it, though. So it definitely rewards some measure of board presence, even if it doesn't require it.

Tell me about it, unfortunately Ravnica was smack-dab in the middle of the substantial hiatus we took between primary school and university. Survival of the Fittest was in the order I placed for gold-bordered cards after they were mentioned here (which has yet to get here... It's a pain ordering...

I really like the game, especially because it's so easy to introduce people to and can be played in most settings, and is rather quick. And yeah, the art is awesome - they used a new artist for the third installment of the series, and I just don't know what to think of it.

Not the best scanner in the world, but contrast can probably get you a long way: http://imgur.com/WuiEUnl edit: It's also terribly unappealing to scan magic cards in it, it literally reveals every single blemish, also those not visible to the naked eye. I was uploading a scan of a beta...

I think that prior to Pyromancer, most people would answer Goblin Piledriver, which obviously sucks in cube. It's a tough spot to be sure, and true, Pyromancer is definitely not in the same league as the rest of them.

Did you make a post on the cube subreddit about a year ago regarding that mono-blue cube? I seem to recall reading and replying to that. Regarding counters, I've got: Force Spike, Counterspell, Mana Leak, Memory Lapse, Miscalculation, Forbid, Cryptic Command, and Condescend. So 8/48 (16.6% so...

Mana Breach was part of my most recent order, and I'm excited to try it out. I think it's the best out of the blue mana denial cards, though I base that solely on gut and theory, and I'll probably switch it out with Parallax Tide if I'm disappointed with it in testing.

Blink decks, when they come together, are commonly UW (because they draft around Venser), Bant, or GW for us. Green is mostly there for great ETB creatures and doesn't contribute anything to the concept in particular. Good cards to consider: Venser, Crystal Shard, Glen Elendra Archmage...

    The Book Thread

Since Eco is a fellow semiotician, I tried my best to get into it, but it's just very dense and slow paced. I've only read The Mysterious Flame of Queen Leona and Foucault's Pendulum, and while Foucault's Pendulum was by far the best of the two and might actually be recommendable, it isn't...

General Auras: Do they all suck?

That and Temporal Isolation are probably the only pacifism variants I'd consider playing. I'm still holding out for one which also gives the creature hexproof or shroud, which has always seemed a fun addition to the concept to me.
