    First budget cube

It looks black aggro has just enough critical mass, but it's too black mana intensive, making it only really viable in the form of mono-black aggro. If you want it to be one of the archetypes, isolated from others, ignore the rest of the paragraph, though it usually ends up being weak when not...

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

Courser isn't good for blink/Vat/self-bounce. It does help a bit top of library, enchantments and life gain matters, but I don't have those themes in my cube. Also, Caryatid has more identity. Courser can be run in any deck.

    japahn's Cube

Oh man, the wall of text D: Thanks very much for taking the time to write all this. Let me answer a couple of points and get the discussion going. First, I took a look at your cube, and it is a bit more powered than mine, but I'd say it's close. If you removed your ~15 most powerful cards, I...

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

I did a mix of both, though I think now I might have gone a bit overboard. As I just posted in my cube thread, I find it hard to balance aggro, midrange and control. Carven Caryatid isn't that bad though. First, it's not narrow - I played it in this deck as a card draw engine. Second, it's...

I think you mean: Slave of Bolas

    japahn's Cube

japahn's Cube List http://www.cubetutor.com/viewcurve/4494 History I've had this cube for around 5 years. It's been played quite a bit and has undergone a lot of changes. It started off as a bunch of good/interesting cards I had from my collection, which meant the power level was all...

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

Aggro was rampant a few drafts ago, I needed defense. Do you think it's too good or too bad? Hard to tell around here. :)

    Sets [ORI] Magic Origins Spoilers

    ||text=+[%22power%202%20or%20less%22]']Gatherer on "power 2 or less" Looks interesting. Mentor of the Meek and Raid Bombardment seem good. Goblin Tunneler looks fringe playable. Imperial Recruiter obviously good.

    Card/Deck Thopters

In typical cubes, Rogue is way better. If you run very little removal/bounce, Talrand would work well - but then, what wouldn't?

Card/Deck Green cards that support spell decks

I think the theme is too subtle. Managorger Hydra is a decent card, but I've run Quirion Dryad for a long time and she was meh - grows at about 1/5 the rate of the Hydra. I can't think of any other green payoff cards for spells matter.

    Card/Deck B/G Lifegain (Lets Durdle)

This would be really good: Voracious Wurm

Effects so powerful? Titans? Splashy effects? Overwhelming onslaughts? What's Wizards' endgame this time, why are they talking shit about their own cube?

General Unpopular Fun/Effective Cards in Your Cube

I've run Sylvan Safekeeper since I first put a cube together. It's a very unique card that rewards good play and thinking ahead. It's also insurance against mana floods. The best application is in ramp decks, you're going to have a lot of lands and protecting your fatties is extra important -...

General Unpopular Fun/Effective Cards in Your Cube

I was actually thinking of: Assault Formation Wish Vent Sentinel was one mana cheaper to be worth running. Not sure if I like Overgrown Battlement, doesn't it feel awkward since it often can't block because it tapped for mana?

    General Fight Club

Legend rule shenanigans was not that relevant. Kokusho was just a good finisher at the time - remember Ravnica was when creatures started getting better (omg Watchwolf is a 3/3 for 2 without a drawback). The large creatures were especially bad at the time, and a 5/5 flier for 6 with a good...

General It's time to put your cube on a diet

I've put it in recently, hasn't been played yet. On paper, it's nice that it's a Lava Axe when you want it to be one, goes as high as burn usually goes, instant speed, and goes back to your library providing inevitability. 5 mana makes it not so good for aggro, though. Has anyone tried...
