    The Modern Utopia Cube

Well, I'm glad that you discovered a new posible way of drafting it) But wait... Krasis may just not work in this deck. Or I miss sth?.. I currently feel sleepy, correct me if I'm wrong Probably, Champion of Lambholt isn't a card that fits into aggro: it's too slow and doesn't have an immediate...

    The Modern Utopia Cube

After I cut a few Spells Matter signposts and dedicated Ramp cards, I added several 2-drops in red and green. Now Aggro decks feel easier to draft and there appears GR Aggro. It has a subtheme inside: +1/+1 counters. Many people consider it a weak theme for a medium-powered cube, so we decided...

General Flickery (Not Featuring J. Scott)

Yes, so, now it's in our list:) That's a correct plan, thank you!

    The Modern Utopia Cube

As a general note for myself, I think I should do several things now. 1.) Expand the "ETB-creature" package and do some other work on this archetype like giving it a more visible mana-curve and gameplan and sprinkle its tools into several other colours for diversity. 2.) Decrease the overall...

General Flickery (Not Featuring J. Scott)

I think, I'd rather expand the ETB pool of creatures, because I feel flicker now has poor support in my environment. And Portal isn't a Modern era card, so, it doesn't fit into the key design principle of our cube. Probably, you could say that it's a not reasonable desicion, but we decided to go...

General Flickery (Not Featuring J. Scott)

My flicker section seems to be quite narrow overall, so this card is probably only for GW midrange flicker. It might not shine anywhere else: there's no deck, except the one I mentioned above, that will be interested in casting it on turn 5. In general, I think I should work on this archetype more.

    The Modern Utopia Cube

Thank you! I looked at your deck, it seems to be solid. But that's what I, probably, was afraid of: I tried to draft our cube a couple times and I often ended up with a Golgari midrange/control deck. Probably, I should dial it's power down, at least a bit. But at first I'll wait for someone else...

General Getting Started - The Core of A Cube

Finally, I've added 40 lands to our cube. I tried to give guilds the lands they need (according to deck types which are hidden inside). Though this way is controversial, I see one way to avoid the problem of drafting, say, only Control in Azorius if there're only lands that support control: if...

    The Modern Utopia Cube

THIS POST HAS BEEN EDITED ACCORDING TO THE CURRENT STATE OF THE CUBE. The list originated as a Modern-focused and Modern-flavored cube, but over the years it drifted towards emulating the old (2017) list of MTGO Legacy cube, with better aggro support and less durdly games being the main...

General Spells Matter: Astonished With a Freedom

Probably, Bonfire is out, because ramp decks might be able to make it too insane. Thank you for your tips!

General Spells Matter: Astonished With a Freedom

I had some thoughts about a theme like this, but I have never had played it. Ponder Preordain Sensei's Divining Top In my cube I run Bonfire of the Damned, but I doubt if it will be good in my environment. Chasm Skulker This guy could play well with that massive rummage card and draw spells...

General Spells Matter: Astonished With a Freedom

That's reasonable, I like your point
  13. Karn Cuberated

General Spells Matter: Astonished With a Freedom

That's true, our cube's power level is higher. And that's true again, some of your suggestions are just too weak for our environment. Nevertheless, I start to understand, what kind of cards are typically needed by archetypes, so, your experience is definetely useful for me) And Homunculus is...

General Spells Matter: Astonished With a Freedom

I guess, you do it for the sake of synergy) I like and run both cards you mentioned, but Chart a Course is, maybe, more tempoish, and sometimes Control needs some unconditional draw. But it's not so interesting. That's the problem I can't solve. But, maybe, it's forgivable to run just a few of...

General Spells Matter: Astonished With a Freedom

By the way, how many draw spells (maybe, also on a stick) can be run in 360-card cubes? I usually see not more than 5, but how control decks then will get CA?

General Spells Matter: Astonished With a Freedom

Thanks, I'll try to use your strategy. I played Homunculus in some casual deck in "kitchen" magic with my friends, it was funny) But in my cube it will die to removal the turn I play him. I don't understand, how people can even think about killing this cute guy :(

General Spells Matter: Astonished With a Freedom

Is there some calculated ratio between spells : non-spells? Or it's only possible to feel after several drafts?

General Flickery (Not Featuring J. Scott)

I run both Shard and Conjurer's Closet, but what I'm concerned about is whether or not a 5-drop will be useful for a Tempo deck, which is Blink in our cube.

General Flickery (Not Featuring J. Scott)

Thank you very much, my friends! I really appreciate your help. Skilled Animator Ensoul Artifact on a stick? That's curious! However, I heard some not very good things about this kind of effect. I should look for that thread. Maybe, it's "cubeability" depends on a particular power-level. Not...
