I was just about to post that! But, uh, it's a 2-MV rock in the right deck that then draws you a cantrip and a game-ending effect. I think it's good enough. Also, it does a great job facilitating the "artifact + enchantment" stuff we've been getting recently.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

It was good in M20, but it's slow even by that format's standards. I like how it makes it possible to encourage reanimation decks to play a grindier game than usual, but that's a tradeoff you're making if you run this. As Modin and Blacksmithy say, it can be a pretty powerful package.

Sets Battle for Baldur's Gate: Testing and includes

Include: Sailors' Bane Patron of the Arts Gut, True Soul Zealot Jan Jansen, Chaos Crafter Rescuer Chwinga Greatsword of Tyr It's rough adding two red 3s, as that's one of my tightest slots, but these are both great. Gut makes aristocrats work on his own and Patron is ETB/death triggers aplenty...

The Swashbuckler is definitely disappointing, no two ways about it, but I don't see a good way to fix it while keeping the simplicity, low spot on the mana curve, and utility without additional board presence. If it were a 1/1 for 2 that refunded you a mana when you cast it, it would be outright...

@Velrun I'm comparing the existing card with a hypothetical version of the car that is 4/4 for 6 mana with all of the other text identical to what is printed and arguing that, all else being equal, transforming that card into a 7-mana 5/6 is a net nerf. I didn't spell out the implication there...

5 power + 6 toughness = 11 stats 4 power + 4 toughness = 8 stats 11 stats / 7 mana > 8 stats / 6 mana The above isn't a perfect formula, but Blue is supposed to make crappier bodies for the cost than any other color, and it seems funny that now you get more stats per magic dollar when you're Blue.

    A) this makes the green dragon look silly. B) why did they break the cycle of the dragons being 4/4 for 6 with the blue one being the most efficient?? Yeah, it's a nerf to help it not completely bully the green dragon out of his lunch money, but it's weird that the color with the least-efficient...

The red out actually looks better than the white one, tbh. 4/4 flying haste is arguably an even better stat line than it was in 1999, and 4 damage split any which way is no joke. It's overcosted, but I think it's the best out of the three we've seen.

Speaking of Tyr . . . This is good enough for my cube even if it doesn't create a body like Barbed Spike or Ancestral Blade, I think. It's mediocre on defense, but the ability to nullify a blocker makes it really hard to race, so it'll be great at breaking stalls, which equipment tends to...

    General Fight Club

To round things out, Touch the Spirit Realm is my favorite by far. By dint of being a removal spell it requires the player to make far more choices than they would if they had Adeline, which is pretty one-note. I don't like tutors in general because I don't like how they slow down the game, but...

This looks slow but kind of legit? (n.b. I do not know Italian.) I *think* the translation is Ward X, where X is the number of experience counters you have. At the end of your turn, gain an experience counter if a permanent you control left the battlefield this turn. Creatures you control...

I noticed that guy when the leaks happened! I want him to be good, but he's very durdly. Hopefully he's a good low-power Soulherder, as that card can be a bit oppressive once it gets going.

The Monster Manual is a really clean design and a fun way of cheating on mana, even if it's likely not viable in most of our cubes. Notably, the adventure is *almost* playable on its own, but paying 6 mana to cheat a creature is way too much, even spread out over multiple turns. In a deck with...

General Alter card trade gone wrong. What do I do?

Looping back around to this, @Velrun, I think it's perfectly fine to be angry/upset about this while still taking the moral high road of not making a big fuss over it. In fact, I think that "acknowledging one's feelings and doing the right thing anyways" takes a lot more willpower than "doing...

General Alter card trade gone wrong. What do I do?

Doing the math, 30 kroner is roughly equal to $3 USD, right? If you want to go with the coldest of logic to chart a course of action, consider whether the sum of money and expressing your concurrent seething anger is worth not having access to this errant street artist long-term.

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

Urza's Hot Tub Does anyone play this card*? Does it do work or mostly just act as a gag that sits in sideboards? I kind of hate tutors, but this feels "fair" in that you can't plan around it too much and I've already broken Hearts with fetch lands and Pod, so if I'm in for a penny I may as well...

The toughness boost on the pickaxe pushes it very far ahead of the shroud, IMO. If the shroud gave +1/+1 it would be a lot stronger.
