In my experience the best reason to include blue in the lands deck is for Gifts Ungiven or Intuition. Both are great at finding Loam and other important cards, and work great with Retrace and utility lands in combination with the Loam engine.

I think the Ballista will land a spot in my cube. I'm always on the lookout for creatures worth getting with Trinket Mage, and it's also a clean kill with infinite mana that, again, is easily tutorable. Bonus points for Auriok Salvagers and Leonin Squire value.
