Its because their formats are really fast. We had a somewhat similar conversation about greater gargadon a year ago. In a slower format where you can build the counters up to 4-6, and still be in the game, it would be terrifying.

What is everyone's experiences with actual counterspell in cube? I tend to find people shy away because of the {U}{U}, but I'm not sure if thats fair to the card. Remand and mana leak I've always found to be solid.

You are supposed to ramp a bunch of mana, say 11 or 13, tap all your mana producers, than cast it. This effectively restarts the game, accept you are accelerated 2-4 mana + however many lands are in your opening hand. You than hopefully drop a primeval titan, or some other nonsense, and win.

The power band seems pretty wide, with titans living alongside calcite snapper. Players may start min/max it by jamming color fixing ramp with whatever are the best cards in the draft, and ignoring the rest of the cube.
