The Dandy Cube (Chris Taylor's Cube)

With all of those prowess cards, cruise should be pretty sick for U tempo.

General Auras: Do they all suck?

Yeah, all of those cards (equipment, auras, combat tricks) are just not going to be of interest to you in that type of powered environment, unless they basically win you the game (swords/batterskull). I can see them being narrow there. At lower power things open up a lot in that regard, and...

General Auras: Do they all suck?

Hmmm...maybe i'm not understanding what you mean by narrow. I agree that the higher the power level, the less demand there is for an equipment effect, unless it has some useful triggered ability. Generally the creatures are already pretty solid.

General Auras: Do they all suck?

I don't know, I think its pretty great. Not having an equip cost means there is no risk of tempo blowouts due to removal on your creature, and the fact you can activate it at instant speed means it can foil certain types of removal. Meanwhile it dominates the combat step. A 4 mana...

This is pretty much my favorite piece of "equipment": Power Matrix Its like a fair eldrazi monument

    Innistrad Themed Cube: 360 Unpowered

    1. I would say they are mid-tier picks, with most of their value coming from their ability to mana fix. The format is very tempo focused, so the only time they really get activated is if the game goes long and both players go into top deck mode. 2. BV dosen't come together as often as I...

    Innistrad Themed Cube: 360 Unpowered

Last night we had some really sweet decks, but this one takes the cake for me. Ones 1 Darkblast 1 mystical tutor 2 Delver of Secrets 1 Brainstorm 1 Dream Twist Twos 1 Oona's prowler 1 Lim-Dul's Vault 1 Stitcher's Apprentice Three 2 Stitched Drake 1 Stinkweed Imp 1 Time Ebb 1 Geist of...

    Innistrad Themed Cube: 360 Unpowered

Hey Modin Dearly departed has been settling in, and I've been fairly surprised by some of the ways that its been used. I had planned it to originally be used as a way for humans deck to gain a powerful early anthem effect when used in conjunction with cards like faithless looting, as well as...

Fantasy "Set" Design (Using Existing MTG Cards)

This came out really great, and the decks look very fun. The GB pod deck is brilliant. I wouldn't be too quick to make changes at this point, everyone is still settling into the draft, and I am sure there are all sorts of cool interactions and things for people to adjust too. Seemingly dead...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Exactly. I remember LSV talking about DT in cube, and he suggested it was an overrated card based on essentially the same argument. We've certainly had our share of bad drafters stuff tutors into decks that have no business running them, leading to some pretty comical plays (DT to play a...

[Design/Construction] Lets build the Scuttlemutt Cube!

Yes...finally, these are great. How is draining whelk in your environment? I'm a little surprised to see it there because I remember you saying earlier that the cube could be very fast

Fantasy "Set" Design (Using Existing MTG Cards)

Wow, this is impressive, and really turns things on its head. I brought up the cube tutor lists for your commons and uncommons, as those will be the significant cards. Looking over cube tutor, there are huge limitations on my ability to make any sort of accurate assessment on the format, but I...

    General The Constructed thread

What was the list? I was looking for just such a janky deck, but unfortunatly nettle sentinel only gets played in efficent green aggro decks I will have nothing to do with.

    Modern Archetype Cube

There are a few other cards in R/G that I wouldn't mind brewing around, but not sure exactly where to go with them: burning-tree emissary Zhur-Taa Druid Radha, Heir to Keld BTE and Radha are solid tempo cards, but have never really worked out for me. However, radha seems built for combat...

    Modern Archetype Cube

I really like the RG counters idea. Its more midrangy without being oppressive on aggro, and even lets you run ion storm if you wish. Back when we had the inclusive aggro thread, I catalogued a lot of the archetypes we discussed, in cubetutor, including the +1 +1 counters one. Might be helpful...

    Charm Cube (Shards/Wedges)

Over here, the self-mill decks often want a way to recycle certain cards despite their own milling. Also, as a hate card, removing 3-6 from a graveyard at a mana cost is powerful enough to be disruptive against a graveyard deck (unlike cremate, which would do nothing here), but not oppressive...

    Modern Archetype Cube

I think you'll be fine as long as you have some graveyard interactions sprinkled around the cube. The looters in blue seem good, stitched drake ect.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

People like generator servant over here; its a card that leads to sweet stories. In terms of min/max play, however, I could see not liking it.
