    General Custom Cards: The Lab

See, I agree with you that Venture doesn't add anything, other than a little bit of complexity due to outside tracking. But why can't you move on without Rusje acknowledging that? It might bring you, as a person, a bit of satisfaction and closure, but meanwhile aggressively demanding an answer...

You’re having an argument over the internet Velrun. a) It’s okay to disagree, and b) no one owes you an answer. And I say this while agreeing with your original point. Belligerence will get you nowhere though. Worse, it makes a really bad impression on other forum visitors.

Hoo boy! You're gaming at a different power level than me :p Even though I'm not in love with the idea of a turn 1 4/4 flyer in my own environment, I do love the concept of Force of Hierophany. I'm less in love with The Passion of Tarkir straight up doing nonred stuff, like countering spells and...

Ok ok, I found room for Servo Station and Staff of the Storyteller :P

Because Assemble the Legion is more a control finisher than it is go wide / celebration support. It’s five mana and pairs excellently with wrath effects, but it doesn’t help someone trying to run 16 lands on a low curve, aiming to leverage, e.g., Smokestack and Glimmer Lens.

Ironically I figured late last night that I could also simply run Staff of the Storyteller instead of Legion's Landing, so Servo Station might not make it into the cube. Happy I posted it here though, if you are considering it :)

I'm on a "replace every DFC" spree, and I'm pretty okay with axing most of them, but cutting Jace, Vryn's Prodigy hurts! I know I'm losing the shrinking ability, but there's less space on SFC's, you know :P Based off of Underworld Breach, exiling three cards seems to be the sweet spot? The...

On the one hand it’s hilarious how bad the extort cards in general are, on the other hand, archetype was pretty successful in limited. Turns out tacking life drain onto every card you cast is pretty powerful. That said, extort is a good mechanic to use on customs!

I get what you’re saying, but I think “Commander” is a really poor choice, because… well it’s a clearly defined word in the Magic lexicon and these aren’t legendary creatures that you can actually use as commander. Commando though… ;)

You're asking the right question, but I'm not sure what the answer is. I would never maindeck Merchant of the Vale for its body alone, so it stands to reason that it's alsno not a card I would want to draw with Thrill of Possibility or Haggle either.

It sucks when stuff like that happens to young people :(

I actually use one-sided DFC’s for drafting and deck building! I have the actual DFC’s in clear sleeves, so you can flip them without having to remove them from the sleeve :)

Can't look right now, but if this is a clone from the original site, it might not feature the Prototype frame, because the original was taken down last summer, I believe?

See, I feel you, but three of the flipwalkers are very dear to my heart in function. I want to run some planeswalkers, but most regular planeswalkers are... too easy?

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Hey Velrun, sorry if it came across as snappy, that wasn't my intent! I'm aware of the baggage this frame carries, my original post even mentions I used the Conspiracy frame. I simply reacted to your opinion that you didn't think the frame looked like a creature, showing that WotC had used the...

Arcane Savant Volatile Chimera Caller of the Untamed I mean, WotC used the frame on creatures themselves, I just think the look fits the Primal keyword :)

The main upside of Reckless Impulse is that, if you hit two lands, you can play them both. The upside of Seek the Beast is that you can keep mana open and stay flexible and that it draws a third card (Questing Druid).

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

I mean, those are knobs you can tweak. Depends on the bonus you’re getting I would say. If you allow mana from elves and rocks, it becomes a lot easier to cast these for full value after all, and you get to cast them for full value ahead of curve. Though Rampant Growth already has the same...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

I don't think one mana from a basic land is all that interesting design space, because draft decks regularly play a mana base with at least 50% basic lands (and that's if the cube curator puts enough nonbasics in the draft and the drafter values them highly enough). Basically a spell costing...
