    Thrull Parasite Too techy?

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

I like how compact that looks Rasmus. The archetype feels kind of techy, and I kind of want to constrict it down as much as I can: sort of as a sub-theme to the more powerful humans theme in white. I could probably sqeeze in a few 2cc life link creatures, such as the pilgrim, and be in pretty...

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

hmm...thats pretty under powered over here compared to what the champion and noble decks can usually achieve. If it were a human in white, or maybe a vampire in black, I would play it.

    General Revisiting "Squadroning"

Stromkirk noble, gravecrawler and harness by force all seem powerful enough on their own. If you have to squadron champion of the parish, young pyromancer, or carrion feeder their might be issues with the way your environment is supporting those cards.

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

Jason, did the archetype come together often for you, and was it something the players actively enjoyed and sought to draft? You mentioned you took it out recently, have they missed it at all? I did a few mockups of potential lists, and the card I dislike the most is--ironically--ajani's...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Since I posted the Laboratory maniac deck, I figured I would go back and provide an update for this card. So far, i.m.o, its at its best when you run it in a beat down deck with a lower than average number of mana sources. The altar lets you convert early drops into higher CC creatures. For...

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

So, I just watched Ivan Floch win PTM15 off of the back of archangel of Thune and nyx-fleece ram triggers, and that really has me wanting to incorporate a life-gain aggro section into my cube to mix with the existing humans aggro section. I've read Jason's article and looked over the old thread...

    General Revisiting "Squadroning"

Champion of the parish also isn't a card I would be quick to squadron with some deeper considerations. I've ran it in two different cubes: one where it was terrible and one where it is great. What type of support do you have for is? And is some of this motivated by a desire to push people into...

General Decks that have 3-0'd your cube

A few of you asked to see what a laboratory maniac deck looks like, and since I managed to draft one tonight, I thought I would post it--and yes, it was a blast to play. This was my first time with the deck, and it was very challenging, reminding me a bit of pod in modern where you are a solid...

    Sets [C14] Commander 2014 Spoilers

As designers, I don't think it’s healthy to put one gamer demographic on a pedestal over the other, unless you know that your playgroup is made up only of that gamer demographic. And while Commander, yes, is guilty of this, casual magic formats exist for a reason: to cater to certain...

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

That's fine. Whenever I sketch out ideas I tend to be a bit biased towards the power level of my own cube. I'm not sure how big of an issue it really is for this type of archetype though, since it already has a powerful core in the form of experiment one. Its main concern is going to be the...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

The advantage of fresh meat is that it triggers off of tokens being sacrificed. Outside of that type of interaction, I agree caller is the better card.

    Sets [C14] Commander 2014 Spoilers

I think the important thing is to remember that not everyone may enjoy the same things, and to try to be empathetic about different tastes. Its better to try to find some middle ground, than to make them feel bad. Once they leave the store you never get another chance to try to bridge that gap.

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

That actually looks really reasonable Rasmus. Grave-troll I think is pretty reasonable, if not broken, and I think it would suck certain players into the archetype. I was also thinking maybe forgotten ancient. -------- How would an artifact section have to look to accommodate arcbound...

    Sets [C14] Commander 2014 Spoilers

Commander is geared towards casual timmy/johnny magic, and if you arn't of that mindset, the format seems incomprehensibly bad.

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

That could be. The thing is that for this hypothetical archetype to achieve its goal, it has to do the following: 1) Avoid the roshambo dichotomy of aggro/midrange, and sort of blur the two together. 2) Provide something fun and flashy for Timmy magic player to do that involves playing aggro...

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

Yeah, I am basically just sketching out ideas of things at this point. I would definitly need to reduce the number of U/G gold cards by about two or three. Scavange might also be a good way to provide late game staying power. I really like the gorgon because it looks like a nice wedge piece for...

    General Making Aggro more inclusive

hmmm...I might have to revist Black sun. I think it may have been the victim of the general sweeper purge a few weeks ago, when a bunch of sweepers showed up in the card pool and ruined the games. Now that I think of it though, I don't think it was actually cast. Anyways, since everyone is...

    General Removing Green From Cube

Yeah, I think its a lot worse. If G/midrange or ramp is dominent, that usually means aggro isn't a thing at all, which means slow durdle games that everyone really hates deep down.

    General Removing Green From Cube

That’s true, and I think that’s what I find frustrating about green ramp/midrange strategies: green becomes the "casual" color.
