    Dom's Stream of Consciousness

Apparently the reason why they name Core Sets a year ahead but keep Commander products on the current year has to do with how big-box retailers like Target and Walmart stock their shelves. If a product has a name with the past year, those stores will tend to stop stocking the product and might...

Honestly I'm not sure I like the idea of using member emotes at all (especially since 3/4 of the people with emotes right now aren't even active users anymore and might not even come back ever).

General Forum upgrade: tomorrow at some point (Sunday, April 25th)

Can we remove the "Last Edited" feature? I liked being able to go back and fix spelling mistakes on posts from two years ago without anyone noticing ;).

    Sets (STX) Strixhaven Testing/Includes Thread

That's not a difference between Classic Riptide and Cube Brainstorming Discord (CBD) philosophy in terms of outcome, that's a difference in individual design goals. Sirfunchalot's Cube is definitely focused on allowing players to draft decks that kind of feel like constructed decks, while a Cube...

    Sets (STX) Strixhaven Testing/Includes Thread

I'm not sure what I have to say is relevant to the main argument here, but I may have something to contribute. 1. Young Pyromancer isn't needed everywhere anymore. He's a good card no matter what, but cubes without a spells-matter archetype or a billion cantrips and burn spells won't necessarily...

    Sets (STX) Strixhaven Testing/Includes Thread

I've been flunk'd as early as turn 2 before- it's way easier to pull off than it looks. I'm not sure the hand information thing is that big of an issue in paper as you can look at how many cards are in your opponent's hand without necessarily having to ask. Anecdotally, I also tend to ask how...

    The Black Cube

This seems extremely viable here since you run so many "gold" cards in your non-black section. 81 gold cards at 532 is way more than most cubes would ever even consider fielding. It would be even better if you could find a way to add more U/B and R/B cards to the Cube. Definitely test this.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I really don't know if anyone considers it a staple in 2021. Kor Skyfisher is rarely amazing, but it's never a card you're unhappy to have in your White creature-based deck. It has a lot of neat angles that drafters can try to exploit. It's just a solid filler card that can contribute value to...

    Sets (STX) Strixhaven Testing/Includes Thread

Quandrix Apprentice has been fantastic so far (although that isn't really a secret), Flunk has been way better than I was expecting, and the Command cycle has been really fun as well. Witherbloom Apprentice has been growing on me a lot as I have been playing the set in Retail limited. It acts...

I agree with this. The Strix Scale is a good tool for helping people figure out where they want their Cube to live in terms of power level, but it doesn't tell another person much about the actual makeup of the Cube itself. I think your article about the First Four Questions a Cube Designer...

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

I think this card is pretty cool in low-power environments: Saheeli, Sublime Artificer Saheeli is great because: -She's a nice engine piece that gives players a reason to be the Spells deck. -She's a hybrid card that can go into Blue or Red decks. -She contributes to Izzet Spells but can also...

I think the big thing here to notice is that both Funchian Designs and Classic Riptide Cubes are both Decks-Not-Cards formats.I wasn't getting what I needed out of just Riptide design theory when I decided I wanted to raise the power level of my Cube to match my desired style of gameplay. While...
