The Dandy Cube (Chris Taylor's Cube)

If you green is too "fair", maybe a combo is in order Sylvan safekeeper Titania, Protector of argoth And looking at the list your multiples... some are ridiculous compared to green! So I understand why it feels "fair". Two demonic tutors and damnations? Four brainstorms, and a variety of other...

    General Drafting with 4 players

10 packs of 10, pick 1 per pack. That ends up at 40 picks per person. I'm thinking of adding in some number of "bonus" picks, maybe 5 to round out at 45, where you can pick 2 cards instead of 1 by cashing in a bonus pick. That should help archetypes stick better. My cube is basically exactly...

    General Drafting with 4 players

Tenchester is still my favorite 4 man drafting method, but if I were to do a burn draft method, I'd probably go for the random burn too.

    Sets AEther Revolt Spoilers

I like that it gives UG a solid removal tool. Use the G ramp hAlf to power it, and get a perfect answer to small problematic dorks like Thalia, that U and G removal don't efficiently bring to the table. Great for my format in general where I'm trying to make G more controlling. This is a great...

    General Revisiting "Squadroning"

Even with 4, casting 1 on T2 has a 33% chance of hitting another, and even less if you've got >1 in hand. That severe swinginess leads to feel bads, and not being able to count on dealing >2 damage limits your targets. Would suck to target an obstinate baloth and then just whif....

    General Mana Sinks

Stupid autocorrect :P I think that's part of what makes blue inherintly easy to make overbearing in cube. Raw draw is probably the most efficient mana sink there is, because you can just keep using your mana on more spells.

    General Mana Sinks

A few of my favorites: Genesis Molten vortex Life from the Loam Mystic speculation And a couple of my favorite mechanics that fill the role of "mana sink" well: Flashback Dash Investigate One thing that comes to mind when I think about mana sinks, is it seems easy to skew the usefulness of...

Card/Deck How to execute a minimalist Enchantment theme

Wow, a lot of good discussion from little old Zur! Taking bits and pieces from above, I think I'll be "throwing caution to the wind", so to speak. I'm ok with having a couple higher variance cards in my cube. My format seems to allow for >2 color 'experiments', as our last draft night had not...

Card/Deck How to execute a minimalist Enchantment theme

I'd be that person jamming 4 colors for sure :). I mean: jeskai ascendancy! Regardless, I might give Zur a test run for a couple drafts. Having the redundancy of enlightened tutor gives more consistency to having the toolbox in the first place. Another positive mark for see beyond also.

Card/Deck How to execute a minimalist Enchantment theme

Zur the enchanter seems really neat. Probably, like most 3C cards, only pickable basically within the first few picks, but still neat. I really like that he ties in well with my miniature enchantent removal suite, which I've put in to bolster delirium. I guess the only problem is do people...

    Min/Max Midrange Cube Experiment

All useful and valid variables to take into account. Speaking personally, I stopped at the average, not-too-greedy deck, and got my Number of land per deck from that and other factors (like experience with the format). From my perspective, if someone wants to play {W}{U}{B}/splash{R} (me lol)...

    Min/Max Midrange Cube Experiment

How many lands does each deck want? How many will give you a robust mana base per Karsten's (or another's) definition? If you have a UG deck, and it favors G such that it wants to be able to consistently stick Strangleroot Geist on T2, but also does want to stick serum visions on T1, then we...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

That's probably a useful way to look at it. The fact that Darkblast has a secret disfigure mode aside, I looked at every card in my cube that has a semi-decent chance of being hit with -1/-1: Now some of these have very narrow windows of opportunity, like Figure of Destiny. Some of my...

Card/Deck How to execute a minimalist Enchantment theme

You're in luck! Un-cards follow the rules of the un-rules manager, MaRo, and he has ruled that un-cards follow cards as they are printed, so you would count the words in Spanish. No need for gatherer!

Card/Deck How to execute a minimalist Enchantment theme

Ethereal Armor is strong. In a properly supported theme probably the best aura for its cost. Wordmail is also a powerful effect here, and might stand a little better on its own? I'm currently working on supporting a great minimalist enchantment toolbox, led by: enlightened tutor Really cool...

    Card/Deck Low Power Card Spotlight

I used to run the five onslaught cycling lands in my main cube. They're fine. People picked them, people played them. It honestly just comes down to space... They aren't exciting, you know? That and the need for fixing slots drove them out eventually. Also the primary driver towards including...
