To me they feel more red than blue. They are impulsive and often an act of anger and aggression, raging against your former allies. Blue gets the long-term stealing already, flavoured as controlling the mind magically.

I don't think the mana cost is the big problem. If your format is slow enough for such a slow value machine to shine, then it's nice.

In an average format easy Mortify. Hitting probrematic 1-3 drops seems more important than hitting half of the artifacts to me, even for 1 mana more.
