General Boros has a really, really boring theme. Alternatives?

I watched that skit the other day. Hilarious.

General Boros has a really, really boring theme. Alternatives?

Ned - As W as they come Catelyn - GW Arya - WRB (she's complex to me) Jon Snow - GW (textbook in my mind) Tyrion - UW Cersei - BUR (nice mix of evil, clever and action oriented) Jamie - BR (more direct than Cersei but cut from similar cloth) Joffrey - B (as mono black as they come) Hound - BGW...

    General Fight Club

Geddon is one of those cards that really should be oppressive in my cube, but for whatever reason never has been. Maybe it's the fact that we play a lot of multilayer. There are always blue mages and spells like that usually get countered. Or if they don't the Geddon player has three people...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I think that depends on your cube. Being Legendary is rarely a problem in cube, but being an artifact can be (there is usually more artifact hate than enchantment hate). Also, that activated ability is going to be very conditional IMO. I admit I've never played either card though.

My idea is 80 card modules. Each has a roughly equal representation of colors and 2-3 very focused themes. To that you add 10 land cards to get exactly enough for two players to draft. I have 5 modules planned. My group is almost always 4 people so we'd randomly select 2 modules and have 180...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I completely understand where you are coming from Lucre. For awhile now, I've been caught up by the fact that my drafts are missing the mark in a few areas. It's largely a problem of group size and how drafting a fraction of the cube introduces more variance than I want. So you often see...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I was looking at enduring renewal the other day too. It's interesting. It's in the right color for enchantress (something I've been wanting to add), and there are a lot of cards I think could work with it. So yeah, maybe.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

If Wizards prints DFC like those posted by Jonas (or even the Kamigawa flip cards), I'd run a couple of them. As it stands though, not a fan. Taking cards in and out of sleeves is bogus. As is having two copies you swap in and out of the game. This is just a stupid mechanic that does not...

Sets [DTK] Dragons of Tarkir Spoilers Thread

I wish Mirror Mockery had flash (that's probably asking too much). I might try it. Seems like a fun abuser for ETB triggers. I like weird blue cards like this that tickle my inner Johnny.

Sets [DTK] Dragons of Tarkir Spoilers Thread

This is a good set, no doubt. I'm probably going to test 9 cards (8 in shammy's list above plus Coat with Venom). I'm especially excited about getting a playable green dragon. I've been waiting a long time for one of those.

I think that will still apply here. I'm going to print some custom cards. The Fetch/Shock wildcards are going to go really fast. They already do (without being wildcards), but to some extent the ones that show up drive color choices (my experience anyway). With them now being wildcard, you can...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Because it has no evasion and has to attack to be good, it's actually surprisingly OK. It gets much less fair in a deck with a ton of removal though because your opponent blocking is obviously the easiest way to remove this thing. I had this card in for awhile and I found it was super sweet...

You are making me want to put Obliterator back in and then put this in the ULD. :)

If I were running walkers, this would certainly be sweet. With that said, a three color deck that can cast Obliterator is going to need one badass mana base.

I really like this idea and I'm thinking of doing something similar for fetch and shock lands as well. Really all lands would work this way… here's my idea. Right now, I'm working on a massive overhaul to my list. It won't be ready for some time simply because I can't buy all the cards I need...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I was pushing MBC really hard at one point and had Obliterator in for a very short time. I only saw it played once in a free-for-all multiplayer game. It was an unblockable 5/5 basically. Though someone did Willbender an Incinerate onto it. That was pretty awesome. Too bad Lure is...

Card/Deck Making Gruul do more than stompy, or make stompy Gruul more interesting?

I don't think it is though. The version of RDW that you can assemble in cube (assuming the typical focus on aggro as seen in most cubes here) is not really fair. It's extremely efficient with a really short clock. Against a slow deck or one that durdles, it has the advantage of tempo...

Card/Deck Making Gruul do more than stompy, or make stompy Gruul more interesting?

I agree that it doesn't have to be complicated. With that said, it can't really be simply "fair" either. Because that doesn't win often in cube. R/G has had the most success in my cube as the wildfire deck focusing on ramp and LD. Secondary has been the BBE deck. I like the fires idea and...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

In what way is warhammer miserable? Too slow? Or is the life gain oppressive? Honest question. I've been tempted to add this thing back in to replace my last sword.
