This just in: 4 Gravecrawlers is completely busted
I wouldn't be too concerned with the lifegain theme busting anything, in addition to its being underpowered the curve-out aggro decks you tend to see in Cube won't care _that_ much about one-shot effects, especially if, you know, the...
After watching a little more Standard I really think you're right that the spells are worse than usual, though I still think the format's staleness is (mostly) due to the bad fixing. I guess the analogy is that a peasant Cube with fetches and duals could still be fun
welp, i'm glad they've literalized the whole "yeah, but you gotta untap with it" joke as a mechanic. because this mechanic will likely be totally imbalanced w/r/t constructed and limited, though, i am optimistic it will be AWESOME in cube
Lucas: again, Forbid + Loam; (one-sided) joy
Sculler is about as far from an aggro card as it gets, the Orzhov sections can be tough to build because they also suffer from the whole "Gravecrawler-Griselbrand" thing. Lingering Souls is just awesome all the time, though
4+. man have times changed.
i don't dislike the kraken, looks fun and beatable in limited. actually the power level of the rares seems to be one of the best things about Theros limited, a look at the MTGGoldfish format analysis dispels the myth that there are 'no' bombs but there are pretty...
Talisman of Pretentiousness, Artifact (2)
T: Add (1) to your mana pool.
T, say something about software design: Add (U) or (R) to your mana pool. Talisman of Pretentiousness deals one damage to you.
One gripe yet to be brought up is the extreme variance these kinds of cards bring about. Everyone knows about the busted starts in powered cube because that's all the grognards of Seattle Magic post on their newsfeeds, but equally miserable are the starts where you did nothing because you needed...
All the EDH players like to do around here is talk about the sweet bling they've acquired to 'pimp out' their deck while still being virgins or porking fat hos. They have a corrosive forum called "Magic: The Seattling" whose culture is indistinguishable from that of MTGS, i.e. all ideas are...
Am I the only one who thinks this guy sucks? In my Cube he's basically Warden of Evos Isle ... except with a worse body, a less relevant discount, and a trigger that ... doesn't do much
I'm so glad this kind of thing goes on here. This is obviously the best Magic forum on the web. Though I hear The Source used to be like this for Legacy, my experience of visiting the Merfolk thread there is that the two people who posted in the last month both were slavering over Thassa, along...
Nykthos might be good in Legacy Goblins, since it has a relentless draw engine. Though probably not because Vial and all.
I don't think Obliterator or Merchant are really Modern-playable, and truth be told I feel the same way about Nykthos
Mogis doesn't look great, though maybe I'm underestimating his static's ability to just grind games as a kind of Vortex / Abyss. The gods are even supposed to be pretty bad when turned off, after all ...

(feel free to rip off the following as an article, it's grown into too much of a real post)
Sure, for Grim Monolith cubes (thank you, Lucas -- nb: this is also true for your generic 'draft' format) the 1c/2c decks already taking up nearly the...
making quite a "splash" over here. i dunno if throwing assemble the legion and sorin into an otherwise black-as-wesley-snipes deck was "viable" here before Gray Merchant, but people seem to do it a lot more now. i guess i'd argue that "splashing" has such a high opportunity cost in Cube (you...
Well, Terese Nielsen art, too ... in all seriousness the card is pretty miserable to play against, but y'all might like it. I think its power level is appropriate for Cubes Where People Cast Spells On-Curve, a unique feature of this forum
I'm hoping the U/B god (Ashiok?) will give some...
