Archetype-Focused Cube [360] and Clear First Picks

Welcome Jake :) ! Had a fun time drafting this! Who needs other things when you can just two-drop lol. In all seriousness, I guess I ended up in a sort of go-wide RW deck, with Retreat to Emeria and fortify as my anchors. Didn't see as many token-makers as I wanted (besides the retreat). Looking...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Interesting thing to bring up about how good the cards really are. Looked through about 30 pages of the 3-0 thread just now. Interestingly, it actually seems like black may be a little underrepresented in top decks? and very unidimensional? By far the largest sources of black card advantage were...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I'm not sure if the wasteland discussion has told us anything about comparing our situation directly to constructed. Regardless, if one of them seems better in faster decks that care about grinding the opponent down, and the other seems better developing a quality draw, I'd say running both of...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I like this way of saying it. As Dom said, Read will help you get out of color screw. If you are stuck on three swamps, Truths will be... less than helpful. When you already have your three colors of mana and can use it to just keep the gas coming, Truths is awesome. Just look at standard Abzan...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

if you're on the polycube/flexible slot plan, I'd just make them a 2 cards-1 slot thing. It seems the perfect place to do that sort of thing considering how close in power they are and how hard it is to tell which one would end up being better.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I personally still like Read the Bones more, because you get to look at up to 4 cards, and you can be in a 1 or 2 color deck and still get value. I'm not sure that doesn't mean running both isn't justified... Drawing 3 cards is strong.

I think one of the coolest red cards I've ever seen! A five drop that's not "big dragon", "3/3 double striker + effect", "Some giant". And note that the card is cast without paying it's mana cost. So this is ~8 mana of stuff happening for 5.

General When Is Fixing Too Good?

I'm so with Eric on this viewpoint. I view cube as the pinnacle of Magic for the fun of it above all else. Cool/fun cards, fun drafting, fun playing. Having even a rare chance one of my drafters sits there miserable for even one game (even if the game is short) is not a pill that I can swallow...

General When Is Fixing Too Good?

This. I think a lot of us aren't arguing about wasteland being a useful tool. Just an unfun one. Or more unfun than other options might be.

General When Is Fixing Too Good?

Yes. And that's ok for some environments. I play with several newer/more casual players, and to have them struggle to even get the deck they want to come together only to get randomly sucker punched in the manabase? No thanks. Newer players will have a hard time with wasteland both because...

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

I think that is a perfectly designed card. Still card advantage for the opponent, but not nearly as meh as Ghost Quarter. The idea of putting it on the top of the library would make it a 1 for 1, but I like it as is.

General When Is Fixing Too Good?

honestly, I think more people should be investigating other sections of their cubes before or alongside looking at LD. Looking at some lists has me dizzy with how many sweepers and other powerful removal effects are stacked up. we're talking like 30% of white being removal, a good portion of it...

The combo for ad nauseam is with angel's grace or phyrexian unlife. EOT, draw entire deck, my turn win. These two cards specifically prevent you from losing to life loss. I personally love ad naus even without combo potential. This with the lab maniac mentioned.
