I don't think I've ever done it with 8 players as sad as that is (and I've been playing magic for over a decade too). My group of friends is a small one. I've drafted my cube with as many as 6, and that was one of the best drafts ever. 4 man drafts are decent enough that we generally just do...

General Does Anyone Actually like Traditional Black Aggro?

All of this. I really dislike the options we have for traditional black aggro, and I really don't get why people run it in their cube. You can make a comparable list in white and/or red and they will always be better. Moving black more towards a pox type of strategy feels like a better fit...

General What are the failings of the MTG cardpool?

I agree. Oracle is a really cool card. Exploration and a light version of Future Sight all rolled up into one. But it's pretty fragile. A 3 mana version would have been an auto include for me though. I like this effect a lot for green.

Grid drafting is awesome with two players. I hand't seen a 4 player variant that I liked, but your version seems really cool. I might try that. Thanks. I enjoy traditional drafting a lot because I don't like knowing what other people are picking. Part of the fun is trying to figure it out...

    Card/Deck Bonfire of the Damned

I'm running Temporal Mastery because I think it's a great card. Paying 7 for an extra turn really isn't the worst thing you could do especially if you just need two attack phases, and there are plenty of ways in blue especially to manipulate the 1U broken version, so IMO it rewards deck...

    Card/Deck Bonfire of the Damned

Me either. Part of me thinks it's a cool mechanic. The other part of me sees it as an additional element of luck in a game that really doesn't need more of that. Cube games tend to be pretty swingy anyway due to all the crazy powerful cards running around, so honestly miracle cards fit right...

General What are the failings of the MTG cardpool?

It's somewhat been touched upon already, but I think that we are limited in what we can do with each color. There are simply some things (like green aggro) that suck compared to versions in other colors and there aren't enough cards printed that allow you a way to fix it. So colors are...

General Does Anyone Actually like Traditional Black Aggro?

I'm a big fan of graveyard themes in black. Reanimator is one of my favorite arch types. I dropped all black aggro a long time ago. I think it made black better honestly. I obviously still run gravecrawler because it's stupidly good and works in Pox strategies. My cube doesn't push aggro...

Thanks for all the ideas. One thing I need to work out is how to handle those times when we have 4 guys and we end up drafting half the cube, playing a few games and then drafting the second half of the cube. Guys like it because we get to see all the cards over the course of the evening but...

Thanks FSR. Great feedback. I completely hear you on the dual land thing. My group is usually 4-5 people and it never fails that I will pick colors and never see the duals or fetches for them. It's ridiculously annoying and it happens without fail. Murphy's law I guess. How many lands do...

New poster to Riptide. Lot's of really cool ideas over here. I'm really interested in introducing this concept to my players. After some experience with it, have you guys refined your lists any (what works, what doesn't work)? Also, is everyone doing the 4 Wasteland thing in their main cube...
