Yeah, I wouldn't mind spending money on release if they did a proper update of Shandalar and ported the concept to modern age Magic. It truly is a great game, only held back by its lack of new content and its graphics.

Only 97? I might have wasted a bunch of time on that game as recently as three years ago :')

Shandalar, such a gem of a game!

    General Custom Cards: The Lab

Broken? Maybe? It's really, really good with fetches, cycle lands, and discard outlets, but that was the point. Maybe it should have a mana payment attached to it? Names and art, yeah, placeholder :) I appreciate your eye for flavor though, and I do agree these should be reflavored if I really...

I've heard Power Play is insanely overpowered, though I guess it depends a bit on your interpretation. There are a lot of players who interpret this as you going first every game. Edit: This reading is confirmed by the rules (and by Matt Tabak, then rules manager). So, yeah, completely busted.

I don't think the "you just have to be lucky to open them" argument works, since that is true for any bomb in any format, but I find the follow-up reasoning persuasive. I think conspiracies add a lot of spice to a draft, but you are probably right that most are not balanced in a high playables...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

So, I've got a bunch of conspiracies lying round, and some are just too good for my tastes, or very format warping (I'm looking at you Worldknit!), but I thought, is there any merit to running the lower power ones? I mean, these are all basically free cards in your deck, so they should be pretty...

    General Fight Club

I run Ravos, Soultender, and it's a great card, despite the annoying partner. I think we shouldn't let ourself get distracted by the extraneous text, if the card fits, it fits. I have never met a drafter who had any problems with ignoring the partner part.

    The Train Station

Actually, here's a great blog post on the topic of rating cards by both their role as a supporting piece and their raw power, and then getting a composite score. All on a scale of 0 to 5! http://mtgcube.blogspot.com/2013/03/card-rating-system.html

Yeah, I like Safra's suggestion. It also shows how relative these rankings are, because Forsake the Worldly isn't a 0.5 in my environment. I think it's closer to a 1.5, maybe even a 2.0. By the way, he regularly updates his examples. Here's the list from his recent Ravnica Allegiance Rakdos...

    General The Draft Exchange

Well, the mana is supposed to be terrible, since you're drafting a wildly unsupported shard :) Only Orzhov is a supported guild, so there's no Boros or Rakdos lands at all ;) Still a cool deck!

    General Fight Club

I think Sea Drake only really works in decks that can mitigate the drawback. Setting yourself back by two lands is a downright disaster! I mean, it's a great play off of a turn one Black Lotus, or off of a Mox Sapphire plus an Ancient Tomb, but I wouldn't want to touch it otherwise without any...

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

I run the Trapper in my cube, and it's much better than I thought. For one, it's fairly easy to get a decent number of legendaries into your white section, meaning a good chunk of your creature base can trigger this. In addition, this is a human, which is great for the human synergies in white...

The Dandy Cube (Chris Taylor's Cube)

I really don't know. Despite coming up with the wording of scroll and the MSE template, I've never had a scroll custom in my own cube :) I still love the idea of scrolls, and sincerely hope WotC discovers the idea themselves :D

All my mana rocks start at three mana, and even I don't play any of these. Maybe that's wrong? The lockets are nice for early ramp and late card advantage, but I already have two Hedron Archives in my cube. I like having different effects on my mana rocks anyway.
