Even back when I was running Doran, the Siege Tower (with copious fixing) and double Ajani Pridemate Nyx-Fleece Ram wasn't worth picking higher.

I think you're better of running Temple Acolyte (or its younger sibling Arashin Cleric). Human synergies, 1 power, a mana more expensive, can attack.

I have lost two games to Scuttling Doom Engine in my last draft, so your mileage may vary I guess :)

I'm always a concerned that this is a bit too hard to deal with. Scrying 3 every turn is also really, really strong, maybe even better (or at least scarier) than "Whenever this attacks, draw a card."
