I approve! I have an unhealthy love for Thrummingbird. I even played it in constructed! People tend to undervalue that thing because it deals only 1 damage, so why waste the mana on that, but recurring proliferate on the cheap is secretly nuts!

I like Glare of Subdual. It's like an Opposition that lets your opponent cast spells. Opposition is one of my favorite cards, and it took me a long time before I could bear to cut it from my cube, but tapping lands makes for really uninteractive, and thus unfun, games. Glare can be annoying too...

There are already a number of Riptide cubes employing a +1/+1 counter theme, but I can't seem to find them right now. If you do a bit of digging around you should be able to find them, and then you could draft them a few times on CubeTutor and figure out if you like what you see. Either way...

I think you need to assign a legal target when you cast this, i.e. before you put the top two cards of your library into your graveyard. Something like "Destroy target creature if its converted mana cost is less than or equal to the number of cards put into your graveyard this turn."
