    General Fight Club

I like Dismissive Pyromancer way more. A bear is more serviceable than a 1/3 for the kinds of decks that would want these cards, it's a straight up rummager without timing restrictions, and it can be cashed in as a removal spell down the road to clear the way. It slots into more decks across the...

    Sets (KHM) Kaldheim Testing/Includes Thread

Not too many for me this time, nothing really caught my eye like in other sets: Doomskar Saw it Coming Behold the Multiverse Ranar the Ever-Watchful Mostly cards to supplement UW Control and give it a little oomph with a Foretell subgame that can be played. Ranar looks like a nice means of...

General Abzan "Put -1/-1 Counters On Your Own Stuff"

You can definitely pull this off at a lower power level, but it's always been pretty niche even with AKH block providing a bunch of support. The support cards that made the archetype work in Limited are just really really narrow to deploy. It's just way easier (and support is more frequent) to...

    General Sacrifice Outlets

Carrion Feeder Woe Strider Falkenrath Aristocrat For straight up sacrifice outlets, I think these 3 hold up really really well at a high power level. I've never been disappointed playing with any of them. There are also the many other options listed earlier in this thread that have a few more...

    General Favorite Planeswalker Cards?

Mu Yanling, Sky Dancer Daretti, Scrap Savant Saheeli, Sublime Artificer I've become a pretty big fan of these supplementary walkers. They don't necessary force you into an archetype or make you want to build around them specifically, but they serve as nice support for their specific...

Article Cross-Appeal in Cube — Recipes to Avoid the Pitfalls of Parasitic Archetypes

Oh my god. It never even cross my mind that Onderzeeboot was a word in another language. I just thought it was an exaggerated pronunciation of "under the boot".

Probably just these two: Earthshaker Khenra Champion of Wits There needs to be enough value on the front side for it to be worth it, and the Eternalize is usually just gravy. Khenra is nice at pushing through damage early and coming back in (if necessary) late to just act as a big finisher...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

I may or may not have made land destruction a primary gameplan of a Ruric Thar EDH deck I had a while back. Can neither confirm nor deny how powerful Klothys is when you can rebuild much faster than everyone else. Also, you get to have all the fun while no one else does so it's extra juicy.

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

Haven't tried it in Cube yet, but have slotted it into many EDH decks. Card is good. You really need to be able to turn on devotion to get the most out of it as a 4/5 beater, but it's passable. I think the problem in Cube is that there are more impactful and archetype-defining cards that could...

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

If you have one fetchland to recur, it's pretty disgusting. If not, it'll probably come in and just shoot down some early plays or threaten a ping. It's just never dead. I will say that if you can't get the Crucible impression going it's just okay and will quickly be outpaced.

What I've learned is that many people like to draft and finish it up with a card pool, but will never actually make cuts and/or add the lands to virtually construct a deck. This is mindblowing.

Looks like Onder and I both came up on the featured queue for CubeCobra at the same time: Neat :D

Bane of your existence if you're playing White Weenie or low to the ground R/x Aggro, not really a big deal if you're in any other archetype.

Not as an explicit deck archetype, but I'm interested in adding Foretell cards to spice up UW Control with some more options. I also like adding the pre-con commander in my UW section as it also synergizes with my blink archetype.

I'm with japahn on this, not a fan of the lack of text on more complex mechanics. I'll make the exception every now and then for a sweet card, but I also try to avoid it whenever possible. Part of the reason why I hated the Party mechanic so much.

Yeah, that's part of why I think it could be a neat little sub-theme within an archetype, but probably can't get there as a full-fledged archetype unless your environment is very specific. Still, being able to make your opponent sweat thinking that your foretold card is either a Wrath or...

    Sets [KHM] Kaldheim Official Previews

Should be the act of exiling it facedown. The "foretell cost" should just be the alternate cost when you re-cast it. So Ranar lets you exile the foretell cards for free instead of the {2} , but you still pay the alternate cost when casting it down the road. I think you might have enough...

    Sets [KHM] Kaldheim Official Previews

Doomskar is really nice for U/W Control decks. The early turns are usually just firing off stuff like Ponder or Preordain to sculpt your hand or dropping something like a Wall of Omens so you're not missing out on a ton of development if you foretell this instead. Being able to deploy at T3 at...

From cube sessions in the past, I remember that while I had tokens ready to go in a box for players, most of my drafters just used placeholders for their tokens with either facedown cards or just dice. Might be different for you guys, but from my years of cubing, it was very rare that my...
