thanks for checking out the cube! yeah, i made cuts today. Emeria is a tough cut, but drafting has shown me that, in this environment, most people aren’t even going to have 7 Plains in the deck! it would only be accessible to a mono white drafter, and even then you’re looking at a very long game...

now that i’ve been able to play the cube a bit, i’m starting to get the tuning bug. my goal is to trim the fat until i have a 480 card cube with 360 spells and 120 lands, so it plays out nicely for ULD. i could really use some suggestions for what lands to cut! i love them all!

thanks for the analysis! this is a theme i’ve dabbled in for a while but never really committed to. seeing everything in one spot like this is really helpful for evaluating what it could add to my environment if i tweaked it in various ways.

i kind of agree with Train here. why do blink in a baneslayer cube? fliers, flashers, saboteurs, historic/prowess, heck even stax are all perfectly good WU archetypes that you could be doing instead and not having to contort your design philosophy to make work.

i run it in my mid power environment and really enjoy it. the ability to sac artifacts makes it versatile enough to be OK with the costed sac outlet. plenty of decks get good use from it.

honestly a good cube should have enough already just from the fact that 1 mana spells are really nice to have in a cube. but i’d run this guy as long as i had at least 3 targets in my deck? would like to have maybe 5. and he just gets nuttier with equipment (and pump) sooooo

Nein danke! Reasoning: think about a cube night where someone has that in their deck. As soon as they draw and play it, their game goes 10-20 minutes longer than everyone else’s. Multiply by 3-5 rounds and... ugh what a terrible cube night!

i think you’ve kind of hit it on the head that it really depends how deep you want to go. Herald looks pretty good with 1-2 artifacts on board; Master asks you to dream a little bigger. So how many other black artifact matters cards are you running? Your overall artifact as-fan?

yeah, that’s kind of how i see these: 1 mana to break through ahead mid/late. you drop this guy and play some other thing quite easily, and yeah it’s a 1 drop but villain HAS to do something about it.
