    General Midrange and You

Dom, thanks for the thoughtful response. I asked the question, because for the longest time I was working towards a cube environment that was a modernized echo of old extended metas. There were clear aggro decks, combo decks, and draw-go control decks. I cut almost all of the super efficient...

Erik's "The cool side of Magic" cube

Perhaps... Hollow One I really enjoy this card. It's a terrific madness glue card, and leads to some explosive sequences. It's great with Mongrel....4 power for Flamewake Phoenix, a cheap cast to help you resurrect Vengevine. Bin it for Living Death, an easy welder target....cast it for free...

    General "Looking for a card"-Thread

I’ve run languish for the longest time. I feel like it echoes wildfire in a pleasing way, and fits perfectly with the 5-toughness delve creatures. -4/-4 kills 85% of the creatures in my cube. I’m thinking about testing this guy: night incarnate -3/-3 is a little easier to build a midrange...

    General Midrange and You

Do you make any special considerations for midrange in your cube? Or is it more of an afterthought....an inevitability inhabiting a space between aggro and control? What are your favorite midrange cards? What makes a midrange deck successful/interesting in your environment?

    Dom's Stream of Consciousness

It seems like the second it hits play all hell officially breaks loose I think it's a little too tedious to keep track of for me, but a cool find nonetheless!

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

I love the orbs, but my format is moving further away from that brand of magic. But trust me, I’ve definitely thought about how insane Urza, Lord High Artificer is with both I have considered hokori from time to time....but it’s never quite made the cut. I really like big Thalia, but the...

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

Interesting. I admittedly haven't seem Doom Foretold in action yet, but I've been assuming it was pretty good. The nontoken clause seems like a nice build-around, and helps to insure that you snag a couple of your opponent's more threatening permanents. The enchantment was settling a small issue...

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

By now a sensible person would've stopped fiddling and let their revisions soak in, but I'm in too deep. If I pull away now, I'll forget a lot of the intricacies I'm weaving, and I'm just enjoying exploring this creative space for the moment. I've done a lot of sample drafts over the last couple...

    General Fight Club

Run both is an option here....but it also depends on what deck you want it for. Dryad is better with creature-gating/bouncing...champion is better with spells. They overlap nicely, and it might be good to have the redundancy

    General Fight Club

I think I’d run an effect like this only if you have a high density of combo...then it’s essentially an arms race. Under most circumstances, I‘d look for other options for my Aggro reach. However, if you wanted more of an old school constructed metagame quality to your cube, where decks posture...

Beckoner>Scion>Abomination I have a soft spot for scion, but I think beckoner is quite a bit better in most circumstances...the deathtouch counter has a lot of play to it If you had a strong mill your opponent theme, scion could have a lot of play. Without, I think it’s clearly Beckoner

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

I haven’t taken this version for a spin irl yet, but I do have some experience in the past with it. It can certainly spin its own wheel forever, but it’s a nice piece with Marionette Master Death cloud Cataclysm Cranial Plating Kor Skyfisher Mentor of the Meek Rankle, Master of Pranks and it...

    Inscho's Graveyard Combo Cube

Trying to squeeze in that memory jar I left out, and finally need to address having one too many orzhov cards... Cut one: hidden stockpile corpse knight doom foretold (unburial rites stays) I’m leaning towards knight, but I really like the combo edge it brings to the orzhov sac/recursion deck

    Card/Deck Single Card Spotlight

No experience with the cavaliers, they never really appealed to me on paper....same with the titans...I do like all of the gearhulks tho anyone tested: neheb, dreadhorde champion Can’t tell if he promotes fun positive gameplay or if he’s a filthy good mindless idiot. Should be fair, right?
